First thread, so bear with me!
I was getting really pissed off with the radio, pundits, bookmakers and press not even mentioning us when talking about the top 5. I was particularly wound up by everyone drooling over king kenny and his anfield revolution, with many even tipping them as title contenders. According to everyone who knows anything about football, they are nailed on for a top 4 finish. Maybe I know nothing, but to me, they have spent 100m on their squad just to compete with us, apart from their strikers, which of their new signing would really hold down a place in our starting 11? We outplayed them at their place, as we did city, who are now genuine title contenders!
Now I know we haven't made any major signings yet, and I don't want this to become another thread on our lack of ambition etc etc. I honestly believe we will strengthen, and if we do in the right places, I think we can give all the "top 5" a run for their money.......

So this brings me to the point of this thread. While I first get wound up about being written off, is it such a bad thing? Are we better off being forgotten and written off, look how well Liverpool played at the end of last year with no pressure, maybe that's what we need, after all, aren't we better off being the underdog?

We're never been taken seriously when people are discussing the top teams. Liverpool have spent a shit load of money, and our squad still beats theirs. Once we get our striker situation sorted, and we will get our striker situation sorted, we'll have a squad capable of finishing in the top 4.

Villas-Boas did fantastically well at Porto, but he's certainly not guaranteed to replicate that success here. Juande Ramos was brilliant with Sevilla, and we all know how that translated to Spurs. And Ramos didn't have Abramovich picking his team for him.

Arsenal look to be in disarray and I don't think anybody can accurately predict the kind of season they're going to have, or the players that will leave before the end of the window.

Man Utd have signed some good young players, but I don't actually think they've improved their first team with any of them. They've also lost some of their most influential players to retirement, and it's hard to tell what kind of effect that could have behind the scenes.

Man City have the Tevez situation to resolve. If he leaves, it doesn't matter how much money they spend on a new striker, they're going to find it next to impossible to replace the 43 league goals he scored in the last two seasons.

At Spurs, we have a young, settled squad. We seem to have held off the predators circling our best player and we still have our major transfer activity to come. Providing we sell a few of our unwanted players, we'll bring in another two or three players to improve the first team and the squad and we'll be right up there again next season.

Assuming Redknapp doesn't get sent down, that is.

I'm happy being written off by the know-nothings in the media. They can kiss the asses of the other clubs as much as they like as it'll just make it all the more sweet when we finish above two or three of them.
