I think they are being silly, mobile phones could be classed as a distraction without the wifi but they are not complaining about that.

Agree with them. People are absolute slaves to their phones nowadays and rarely take their eyes off of their ****y screens.

Sent from my iphone.

There is no place for stadium wide WiFi at football stadiums.

Want internet access outside of the home? Then fuck off to Starbucks and leave the football to the fans

WTF?

...or, according to your point of view, have they got a point?

I love it. Fans are not supporting the team or even watching the game if they are staring at a phone. They are wasting space in my opinion - watch it in on TV or on your phone using Starbucks wifi or something.

If it was up to me, stadiums would be great big Faraday cages and an EMP would be set off at the beginning of the game.

.

But then you could say if a fan has already paid for a (season) ticket - a part of that money goes towards the club; who gives a rats' arse how they spend their time in the stadium, being watching the game (yes, I would it when the game's on, but before/half time I might check facebook or sommit?), playing Candy Crush or whatever; the club's got his money anyway.

The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that it would encourage people to bring tablet devices which are an irritation as they obstruct the view for others

What difference does it really make though with most people having 3 and 4G these days, many or most with all you can eat Data? Or is that not that common in the UK?

From experience it can be difficult to get any kind of signal in a football stadium so wifi can be handy.

Although my battery has normally died by 3pm so makes little difference to me.

You can, but AYCI Data contracts come with a premium price, so for most 1gb or 2gb Data is plenty. Also home wireless networking gear is pretty cheap these days, so roaming data isn't a big thing. (For me, but I realise that there are road warriors etc. who need that)

I'm a football fan (both association and American). When I'm at an NFL game, I want to know whats going on in the rest of the NFL. It might be just checking scores or maybe checking fantasy updates. Now one will argue there is more downtime to do this during NFL games which is true, but similar principles apply. Stadiums need to provide an experience and wifi is become a requirement to put on a good experience.

I hope you punched them in the soul.

Something that does cross my mind as i type this though, if you took this on a tablet, then that opens up a whole new can of worms - people filming people filming at concerts...
