Italy numbers coming down now (still though horrific) 4 days in a row. We have been almost exactly 2 weeks behind them. Will be interesting what daily numbers would be deemed ok to let players return to training. 100-200 cases a day ? Honestly absolutely no idea and I doubt the government has either. You would think they’d need 2-3 weeks training before could even consider a PL game.

This past me by yesterday. Scottish FA sent out a letter players back training June 10th earliest and would need then 6 weeks before any games possible. There’s is also a vote today on ending all leagues below the premier league but that obviously directly impact the premier league in terms of relegation/promotion.

"Mark Lawrenson: If it is a case of teams playing three games a week to get this done, then do it.

I don't get the argument that it is too many games in a short space of time, because it is the same for everyone, and they will have just had an extended break too. They won't be tired, will they?

It could be done in 30 days. There are nine games left so you play every three days. What is the issue?"

Ahhh... Liverpool fan? ?

SPL have just ended the season.
Teams will be promoted, but not sure if teams are relegated.
Like the Belgium league, the SPL was close to splitting the league in half.

Apart from Liverpool supporters and ex Liverpool players it seems that almost everyone could not give a toss about this season and would rather it being voided than played out in a short space of time and it seems other countries supporters feel the same about their leagues from what I am reading . Liverpool supporters trying desperately to show Shankley was right .

I think that very sad story about the pregnant nurse maybe a game changer for players. Many probably have pregnant wives or gf will they really want to take any kind of risks.

Unfortunately the people at the club's don't feel the same and will be pushing that the season is completed.

That's what I've been told.

On one hand I understand where some are coming from because a lot of hard work goes on to get a team into the quarter finals of the CL, for example. Or lead the league by 20 odd points.

On the other hand we need to look at the entire ecological system of football.

The number one importance now should be ensuring clubs don't go under. Everyone needs to play their part. It'd be nice if players at the top massively reduced their salary, itd be nice if the Associations helped out crippled clubs and it's be nice if some donations were made by those who are safe.

It'd also be nice if clubs started to say 'no' to 20m a year salaries, not because players shouldn't be paid that, but because that money should filter down so that we don't have this great divide.

Clubs like Bournemouth are about to be right up the shitter because they have an 11k stadium capacity and are paying players 40k a week. The imbalance and total reliance on TV money is a major problem.

I don't hold out much hope though, some clubs will continue to pay large salaries, the rest will struggle to make ends meet, loads will go under. Those at the top won't give a shit.

The SPL isn’t finished yet. Its the leagues (SPFL) below it which have voted to end their seasons. The SPFL have the power now to end the SPL if they get to a point where they feel it’s impossible to play the remaining games.

One way of cancelling the leagues I suspect is to award the PL to Liverscum and not to relegate anyone and promote the top two or three/four in those automatic promotion positions in the Championship and leagues one and two. The only ones that would moan would be the teams in the play off places but any decision will end up with unhappy teams and its all about reducing the legal ramifications I suspect.

Then next season you relegate four/five/six teams

I suspect thats how it could and may play out.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

It's not a bad shout and had been suggested elsewhere. I suspect though that the PL especially will first turn over every stone in a bid to play out the remaining fixtures.

Might as well just end it. Deal with the consequences and move on. Start the new season when its safe to do so.

It’s just so obvious. I’m convinced a deal can be done with sky for more coverage next season and that’s really the main stumbling block. It’s like anyone who is in debt or has a failing business the worst thing is uncertainty. If you end the season you have clarity and can plan accordingly. It might not be pretty but at least you know where you stand.

I said yesterday they could just renegotiate a new contract with the PL at a lower rate over the period to take into account what the tv companies lost the season half of this season. They could also be given some of the Saturday 3pm games as compensation now that has been conveniently lifted.

I’m convinced the tv companies, clubs and PL have been in negotiations for weeks since this started.

I bet however they decide to end the season it’s not good for us though. The authorities have never done anything in our favour. Since the season has been postponed I can’t stop thinking, in relation to this, about when arsenal stole our place in the top division and something similar happening.
