I’m still try to wrap my head around why Man Utd aren’t playing the same style as that unbelievable Ajax team ETH managed in the CL. It’s literally poles apart. Bizzare.

Wish we were in for Olise
Controversial opinion incoming:
Sell Kulusevski and buy Olise with the money. He’ll score, assist more. He’s sheer class and was born to play for Tottenham. I’m still livid we didn’t buy him from Reading when we had the chance. We could have loaned him to CP for a year or two and we’d be laughing now. I’d buy Eze as well instead of Gallagher.

They really do give penatly kicks far too easily.

Ruining the outcomes of games
There was never enough contact for the player to go down like that. Referees are giving penalties for the slightest contact nowadays. I think the referee gave Villa this game. The second yellow for Berg was very soft. Yes he pulled his shirt but he didn’t really impede his forward motion. I didn’t even notice anything amiss in real time. Too many games are being decided by poor officiating both on the field and by VAR.

I continuously say this but they need to change what is and isnt a penalty.

Slight contact resulting in players flinging themselves down should not be a penalty.

A player can be inside the penalty area with almost zero chance of scoring in that position and be lightly touched resulting in a great chance to score.

That just is not in the spirit of the game
100% agree. Part of the problem is that VAR virtually never overrule the referee’s decision to give a penalty regardless how “soft” it is.

Yeah I think a penalty is such a big decision that the foul or handball should be blatant. Lo Celso and Kulu gave us great examples of a correct penalty decision, but something like this where the Villa player is looking for the penalty and there is no intent from the Burnley player to foul, it should not be a penalty.

They seemed to have fixed it when it comes to handballs but now they need to take a look at the types of fouls that can justify a penalty.
The question the referee should be asking is “does this justify a free shot at goal from 12 yards?” Too often the offense does not merit the punishment given.

Ok, the bottom half. Brentford in freefall as are Newcastle. Interesting how Ten Haag is under pressure but he's not doing any worse than Arteta and far better than Howe recently. Will change somewhat as Arsenal meet a Fulham side whose recent bubble has well and truly been popped.

Is it a foul is the only question to ask.
Perhaps we should change the rules to a direct free kick from anywhere in the D. Would be far more fun.

Fulham just had a penalty shout, was basically the same as the Villa one yesterday where the player got there before the defender and gets caught.

No pen. No consistency

Really happy for Raúl Jiménez. Thought he looked exceptional for 18 months at Wolves, but that head injury must take some bollocks to come back from.

Like Richarlison, you can see just how much his confidence changes his touch/finishing.

Doing it against Arsenal makes it even more satisfying.
