It’s the inconsistency. The one Odegaard got away with the other day was far more deliberate than that.
But in this case the arm is high above the body and the ball hits it. I don't get why some say this is a nonsense decision.

Ødegaard got away with it big time but you (not you specifically) can't argue this isn't one.

It's a pen by the law, but the law is a mess.

I’ve seen more than one incident just like the one tonight this season where penalties were not given.

The explanation being that the defender was too close to the attacker striking the ball.

The handball law is too vague, and as such the refs are wildly inconsistent with it.

The commentator just said Grealish has "just gone through a spell of hitting the floor". By "a spell" does he mean his entire playing career? Throwing himself to the ground is like half of his game.

Very very lucky city to be awarded that pen

They have been awarded some of the softest penalties this season City. Two players falling down when a defender had hands on their players in previous games and now this.

I suppose the red Scousers on Rawk will continue their conspiracy theories about man city getting favourable decisions

The ball hitting an arm that's raised above the body has always been a penalty and always will continue to be. It's the one consistent part of the handball law.

Maybe. But not in this case. He made his body bigger and the ball struck his arm. There won’t be many more obvious pens.
Nah, he was falling backwards and his arm was in a natural position, plus he was about 1 yard away.

If his arms were out to the side, or he wasn't in the process of falling backwards with his slide, or the city player was 5+ yards away, I'd agree, but there's no way IMO the Everton player was thinking he'd stop it with his hand
