VAR absolutely fucking pathetic.
thats not offside is it. Surely it wasn’t brought in for things like that. Absolute joke.
VAR absolutely fucking pathetic.
I just don’t know what can be done. That’s not really off side in any way we’ve ever known it to be is it?
Zero point in Peter Walton on BT, bullshit merchant who just goes with whatever the officials have said.

I like the idea of VAR for fouls and suchlike, and for clear offsides.
But using it for these millimetre offsides is utterly ridiculous:
(1) The technology simply isn't accurate enough to measure offsides to that level of precision. you cannot judge exactly when the ball is kicked, and the camera speed means there can be movement between frames of more than the offside distances we are seeing.
(2) Aside from the technical issues, there's another point I haven't seen discussed much. Which it that it spoils the skill of playing off the last defender or timing a run. It is literally impossible for a player to judge with millimetre accuracy during a game whether or not they are onside. They look across the line, or time their run, and make their best guess. Yet they are being judged against a standard they themselves cannot apply in the game.
I’m genuinely all for scrapping VAR entirely as opposed to continuing with what we’ve seen this season
Well he clarifies the reasoning for decisions made by explaining the ruling, he's not making up rules as he goes along to fit the refereeing decsions.
You see, I think you're making a mistake, Ray, in blaming the tool, rather than the user.I have no doubt that if the technology was created to measure offsides exactly, half these disallowed goals would actually be fine. Some bloke drawing lines and making a decent effort to determine when the ball is actually played isn’t good enough.
I’m beyond sick of VAR.
