They are smart and they also had luck. Salah was their 4th choice for winger after Draxler, Brandt, Pulisic and he massively surprised everyone, that's a single decision who really changed everything.

Didn't know that - interesting. I remember they went for Dempsey and Sigurdsson only to be outbid by Levy (how times change!) and then went for Coutinho and Sturridge instead. Funny how things work out.

Mourinho quite publicly said Bergwijn wasn't his first choice but has been impressed with him so far - wonder who he would have preferred?

I think he said in the same presser we were trying to bring in a striker. So not first choice in the positional sense.

You weren't alone, mate. I'm from Scarborough and there's a nice bunch of Spurs fans from the town. Thanks to the legacy of Bill Nic.
Something about Yorkshire and Spurs... Bill Nic, Burkinshaw. One of the banners I always see at the lane says Harrogate Spurs.

Tell a lie, I worked with a lad in York, who was from Halifax, and he was a big spurs fan.

Chelsea will finish third

But am I crazy for thinking we can finish above Leicester? They’re 10 points above us + have better goal difference but they’re not playing that good atm and are dropping a lot of points and we still have to play them.
They also have to play Everton away, Arsenal away (LOL I know), Sheffield United and United in the last game

Hopefully somehow they, United and Wolves drop points and we somehow win all games bar maybe 1

yes, yes you are.

so, went on twitter this morning, baring in mind i only follow spurs fans and a few other people, why the fuck was my timeline inundated with liverpool players celebrating their title? they was all retweeting and liing posts from van dijk etc ( who has to be one of the most arrogant footballers out there) i felt such justification blocking them!

Makes you wonder if we'd sold Eriksen to make the squad stronger if we'd had been better off ...

Did anyone actually ever come in for Eriksen though? I don't think they did. Feels like we were open to selling him for at least a couple of seasons.

Only solid link I remember was United at the beginning of this season but they never made a bid.

Alasdair Gold, who's normally very reliable, said Levy wanted £100m. For a player running his contract down, who'd already downed tools and wasn't in great form.

Think Barca if memory serves - but something broke down and I can't remember if it was Levy or the agent ... I could be wrong, in which case it'd just be down to guess work.

As a Spurs plastic from up North, I can hardly be one to talk about not supporting a club from where you're from. But I reckon I was likely the only Spurs fan in all of North Yorkshire when I was a kid. As opposed to all the 20 something Liverpool fans I see down here now.
Yeah going to school in the midlands then West Yorkshire I think I met 1 other Spurs fan. I knew 1 M City fan too, everyone was either Man I, lpool or Leeds.
I wouldn’t have called myself a plastic fan though I used to go to more games then living 200miles away than I do now I live 13 miles away

Yes. It was ITK from his agent's end. Essentially there was a deal with Barca but his agent nixed it. Assumption being that because Eriksen was his only client he thought he would get bigger pay day if he went on a free.

CE to blame for listening to him.

It was pivotal for me. That winger end up scoring 32 goals, 11 assists and according to Transfermarkt he had 8 match winners (Kane and Agueroo too) in his 1st season. Liverpool ended season 17/18 on 4th with 5 points more than Chelsea. I would say it's likely that without him they could be in EL for next season. He was crucial in Champions League too, that alone made a lot of money they could reinvest. 92 goals and 38 assists overall.

Then they already had VVD, but I remember that Alisson was strongly linked with them, Chelsea and Real. I can imagine him joining Chelsea with them in CL and Liverpool in EL.

It definitely contributed

It does go to show however, that a strategy is essential to reaping the benefits... im not really sure what our strategy is but hopefully we do have one and we can implement it this window coming

I'm now in Yorkshire although brought up less than 200 yards from WHL (moved in my mid-thirties for work). Always plenty of Spurs fans on the trains down on match days, that is when I can get a ticket. The landlord in one of the local pubs was a Spurs fan, always had the games on TV.

Where I was, it was either Middlesbrough, Leeds, Newcastle or Man Utd. I was initially just a Hoddle fan, but stuck with Spurs because they still had amazing players like Waddle, Lineker and Gazza.
