He’s got malaria , I don’t know length of full recovery , knowing us it will take months !
Depends on how serious it is. I've known people recover within a few days although I'm not sure they would be fit enough to play football, As he came off the bench, I presume he has a mild form and should be fit in week or so. When I caught malaria in the 70s, it almost killed me. I went into a coma and lost about 3 stone in weight. Malaria is still the biggest killer in sub-Saharan Africa and is very debilitating.

Malaria is a serious life threatening infection and he was still played? Dont care if it’s common where he’s from, that’s insane.

While he might recover in a couple of weeks, getting his elite sportsman energy levels back might take months. Malaria can be debilitating enough for some, vaccinated or not.

I do wonder how long he's had it. Is it possible it was the cause of him losing his form before the ANC?

Highly unlikely. Malaria generally doesn't recur (although you can obviously catch it repeated times). I have not had a recurrence although I still can't donate blood fifty years after my attack. I think that is more to do with the jaundice that accompanies a malaria attack.

It's on a case by case basis. Sometimes it can be life threatening, sometimes the effects can be mild.

Same with recovery. It depends on how quickly the treatment can remove the parasites.

FFS. I was thinking about either him or Sarr getting Malaria but didn't want to jinx it. If they are sensible they'll have been taking anti-malaria tablets etc. well I advance

Hopefully fine but IIRC Didier Zokoro, who was starting to play like an earlier version of NGolo Kante, got it and was never the same player. His game was all about energy and stamina and his form nose-dived

Edit: Wiki says he got it earlier in his Spurs career so if anything it was a re-emergence

If he had a bad case, he wouldn’t be anywhere near playing for Mail.

Whatever he contracted clearly wasn’t too debilitating. May take him a month to fully shake it off. But that doesn’t mean he won’t be able to come on and play the last 20 to 30 mins a game until he is back to full fitness.

We’ve missed his early season quality a lot. Felt like we controlled games then and he relieved a lot of pressure with his ball carrying.

Interesting. So slightly odd as to why he didn't start some of the games for them. Surely he is their best player
