Cost us the game tonight because he so desperately needed to get revenge for getting hit in the face a few seconds earlier. Now he has to live with the fact that he ended another player's career.

Korea ending injury that one.
Obviously I hope he makes a full recovery. ?.

I thought this was quite funny in a bleak way.

Most football fans are quite meat and potatoes as humans I guess so this was a bit over their red top reading heads, the humourless twats.

? ?

I’m not sure this is quite right.

I did think it was a yellow myself. That’s on the reply that was cut short before Gomez made contact with Aurier.

Son obviously meant to bring him down but it wasn’t a studs up or over the top tackle.

But back to the Mirror article, do refs normally do this? Wait to see how badly hurt the player is, then make a call on punishment.

Ref thought yellow but changed his mind when he saw the leg angle.

A very very nasty accident for me. Leg got stuck underneath at a bad angle, pressure applied and then break.

Silly ‘striker’ tackle from Son. Obviously upset. He never meant to do that.
For Gomez. Get well soon. Hopefully a clean break and heals well.

I was going to ask whether you picked your username based on your approximate intelligence level but I decided that'd be unfair on drunk elephants

Trying to cover their arses as know it was a shit decision.

Im wondering if theyre just giving the reason that atkinson brandishing the red rather than justifying it, I'm still adamant it should be rescinded.

I feel so sorry for Gomes, and for Sonny - it was an unfortunate accident.

As Carragher said, plenty of players make tackles that have unintended consequences, and are on the receiving end of similar such tackles.

Last year Gomes received a retrospective 3 game ban for this - http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2019/...es-challenge-on-mitrovic-foul-no-card-tackle/

He was lucky he didn't cause more damage, and it was entirely intentional

Sonny didn't attempt to stamp on or break Gomes' ankle - though clearly without his trip, there wouldn't have been the injury.

Clearly there was no malice - the card should be rescinded, but i expect it won't be given the emotive reaction to the injury
Can yellow cards be rescinded?
