Can’t see how it would be reversed. It was VAR that ultimately made the decision and that system seems to be the final letter of the law.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all of they did indeed decide to double it to 6 games.

He's letting the club, the fans and the team down. 3 red cards for retaliation driven offences needs to be dealt with and he needs to get a grip and shape up. Hope Sessegnon gets a chance at least.

Apart from the fact that one was correctly overturned and the other two were instigated by some of the most shameless play acting you'll ever see, I completely agree with you. Players get away with more every week. Son must have the opposite of the 'Paul Scholes innocent face'.

All 3 followed the exact same chain of events though. He was (in his mind) wronged by an opponent and then, immediately afterwards, he lashed out. Yes Lerma and Rudiger exaggerated the contact but it's impossible to defend Son's hot-headed reactions in all 3.

Maybe, but Lamela, Dele, Jan and even Harry have got away with heftier retaliations (as have most players). These Son incidents seem so nothingy in comparison. Ah well, c'est la vie.

They're "nothingy" but they're petulant and show that, even momentarily, he sees red (no pun intended) and loses control. Apart from the Gomes one they weren't just yellow-worthy tackles, they were direct acts of retaliation. I mean the Gomes one was still an act of retaliation but it's the sort of cynical foul you see a dozen times a weekend and will always earn a yellow. It just looks much worse because Gomes had elbowed Son in the face about 3 seconds before.

Only way it's overturned is if they accept that Rudiger cheated, seeing as he went down clutching his stomach despite Son pretty much just stroking his flank with his instep.

And I don't see that happening after Rudiger's racism claim.
Dont forget hitting Son with his right hand in the same tackle!

Unfortunately it's just how thing are. The game is rife with 'nothingy' incidents where players act up and con the officials, and sadly it's become accepted. The fact is though, that no matter how trivial the actual incident is, if you retaliate the way Son did you're walking a thin line. The Gomes incident was indeed overturned, but Son went after him looking for some pay back. If he didn't learn anything from the outcome of that situation, I don't really know what will stop the red mist from descending, and it's a weakness unscrupulous opponents will seek to exploit now that he has a reputation. He needs to be squeaky clean from now on.

Yeah, I guess I just long for a time where the refs just knock their heads together, tell them to stop embarrassing themselves and to get on with it. The play acting deserves the same treatment as the petulant flicks.

Yeah, that's what I was doing mate.
Let’s not get tetchy, you wouldn’t have made that comment if Son wasn’t of Asian origin, don’t pretend like you would have. You aren’t posting that sort of commen in the Ndombele or Lo Celso threads are you? Not trying to have an argument nor am I offended, but let’s not pretend the comment is anything but what it is.
