Are people trying to say if someone jumps on their back with force at random and there is fluid in your mouth(water, spit, etc) it doesnt spit out? That’s where we are at here? If anyone tries saying that’s intentional they just are trying to find fault to fit their agenda.

Ridiculous that he felt the need to post this, our fans can be utter tosh sometimes. Yes, I am aware that I went off on one incorrectly about him after the Gomes incident, that was heat of the moment in the match thread after seeing something very upsetting. For a young man to be made aware that people think he’s spitting at other people when it was clear he wasn’t, that’s really shit.

It's clearly possible that the contact could have forced the spit out. Anyone who states that it was with certainty either misreads body language or has an agenda as you stated. The one question mark over the incident was that it sounded as if he ran directly to a section of the stadium that was harassing him beyond anything that was called for. And that would make it reasonable to assume that it was possible (not probable) that the spit was intentional.

As someone who sees that his talents could catapult him to be a star if he is mentally disciplined (and ultimately consistent) , I hoped that it was an accident and not purposeful. Hence, if the intent wasn't clear, it probably is a good idea for the coach to sort it out. Now that he has come out on instagram with the post, it seems to me we need to accept him at his word.

Poor old Serge.

Delighted to see how good he looks, this ability had always popped out now and again.

I just watched the second half of the game because I was out last night and came home drunk and fell asleep. I didn’t know anything about the spitting incident and was watching it with my son. As soon as I saw it I thought he was spitting at the crowd. His reaction. And his expression seemed to be that he was saying “fuck you” to the haters.

I haven’t rewatched it in minute detail. That was just my impression watching it first hand. I hope it wasn’t Directed at the fans. As he has been playing so much better the last couple of games.

He’s come out and said he wouldn’t do such a thing so for he’s not meant anything sinister and that’s case closed

When these so called 'fans' are unable to slam Serge of his footballing ability, they jumped on the chance to attack his character. Pathetic. Disgusting.

Only serge knows what his intent was. But, as fans, some tend to live in the past too much. Theres no doubt he has been a car crash at times, but, past is past. If he can continue like he did last 2 games then happy days. Hes going to be card prone though, just the way he is wired. But if he us scoring and setting up goals, I'll take the rough with the smooth.

It went into the line of photographers just in front of the crowd. No one deserves to be spat on for doing their job. I don’t exactly want him driven from the club, it was a spur of the moment thing, but it was vile and I can’t believe people are defending it because he scored a nice goal.

Fair enough, didn’t see where it landed... It didn’t look like he was intentionally gobbing on someone. I’m not attempting to defend him if he has spat on a photographer (taking your word on that) that’s disgraceful. But it didn’t look intentional if that was the case...

Another outstanding performance as a wingback. Contributed defensively and offensively. A hard worker contrary to the impression some people are trying to make of him.

Looks like he may reach his potential under Jose. Been a bit of a beast at times the last 3 games

Thought RB would of been the priority in Jan, have to say probably the least of our defensive worries at the moment.

Hope it continues.

Really happy that Aurier is starting to find a bit more consistency, earlier in the season I said he needs a run of games and that there would be more moments of madness that we will have to struggle through if we want to try and get the best out of him and I feel that's happened. I hope we are over the hump in that regard but you can never be certain.

What Jose has done really well is to limit the part of Auriers game where those weaknesses come up and focus on what he brings. Great crossing, intelligent decision making on picking the pass/crosses when he's the attacker in space and also providing that 5th man who has the ability to score himself. I don't necessarily see Aurier as a long term solution mostly because I think he will want to move on over next 2 or so seasons but he's certainly made me less worried about needing to go overboard in spending for a RB in January. I reckon we could wait until the summer at least.
