I'd start him against Sheffield United. Ideally I would persevere with him as a 9. Don't think he's played badly at all, occupies defenders, makes good runs and creates space for others (which is exactly what the 9 is meant to do in Ange's system). Needs a league goal, and he'll be fine.
Problem with persevering with richarlison at 9 it means son plays as a winger which he isn’t suited to. Stick with son at 9 and play Solomon/perisic on left and kulu/Johnson on right. I like richarlison but for me he has to bide his time again and when the opportunity arises he needs to take his chance which he didn’t do in the first three games.

No way should we be tinkering about putting Son back on the wing to accommodate a woefully out of form Richarlison. Stick him on the left of a three if he’s going to play. He actually looked decent there when he first joined last season.

True he actually used to play LW for Everton so maybe we just switch Son & Richy round longer term and put Johnson up top if Son is ever not available 🤷‍♂️ meh Ange will work it out

Yea on one hand I feel sorry for him as he’s going through a tough patch but on the other hand to cry so regularly and to let your head drop or get frustrated so easily like he does given that he’s 26yrs old and has been playing professional football for a number of years now is not good enough in terms of his mentality (unless he has off the field stuff going on which we don’t know about then fair enough), otherwise I’d expect that behaviour from a young player but not a 26yr old adult fully fledged Brazil international.

I hope he starts scoring and finds his best form but if I’m completely honest I’ve never liked his personality at all and would not be unhappy to see him sold next summer but ofc whilst he’s our player we have to get 100% behind him and support him during this tough period.
@Beni @Tezza1978 disagree would be fair but dislike a bit odd… I said if he has off field issues leading him to cry then fair enough otherwise crying so regularly isn’t good mentality at this level for a player who is 26th are old and I said I hope we all stick by hik this season.

I don’t think that’s a particularly dislikeable post 🤷‍♂️

I wonder if playing him on the left and having him attacking far post crosses from Kulusevski could work as we all know he can head a ball.

It's whether or not his all round game as a winger is up to standard or not.

Mail saying there was deadline day interest in Richarlison from Al Ittihad.
I wonder how far that interest stretched? I didn’t see anything last week, no ITK so maybe more fail than Mail again but would have been interesting to see what we’d have done if there was a bid.

Not odd at all. I dislike it because you have no clue what he is going through. So what if he cries, it means he cares. I know many people that have different thresholds of emotion and show it, it doesn’t mean they have a weak mentality or mental state of mind regardless of their age. I would never question their mentality or personality like you just have, just because maybe you or I wouldn’t, and claim to have a stronger personality or mental state over someone crying being passionate in doing something they clearly love to do

So yeah, I disagree with it but I also dislike your mental assessment of him.

Telegraph saying they ran out of time to put a bid together after salah didn’t happen. If they come back in and he’s keen I’d sell in January.

I'd be keeping Solomon on the left with Son up top against Sheff U, and then bring Richarlison to play on the left against Arsenal. Harsh on Solomon particularly if he has a productive game on Saturday, but Richarlison's experience in bigger games could really be beneficial. He'll hold the ball up better than Solomon too I expect.

But when his head inevitably drops? It’s a depressingly familiar thing with Richarlison and I fear he’s becoming a luxury we can ill afford. We can’t keep having our attacking plays break down every time the ball gets to him because he’s got a bad case of the yips.

He seems like one of these players who prospers when he is the main man at the club. The big fish in the small pond. He’s a different type of player but Bent also had this kind of thing- he had a phenomenal scoring record at clubs like Sunderland but he wasn’t a good fit at Tottenham.

There’s still time for Richarlison to turn it around - look at Emerson for example- but it’s going to be more difficult from here because a lot of fans have already lost patience with him.

Richarlison is not an Ange winger.

He can’t play wide for Ange because his passing, technical ability and dribbling are not good enough and he lacks pace.

When he has played wide in the past it’s been as a wide forward who drifts inside to become another forward using his physicality. The wide role for Ange is more of a winger and this isn’t Richarlison in any way.

The only position he can fit in for Ange system is as a striker but Son is better.

I think this does Ange and Richarlison a disservice tbh and is very similar to the conversation about Porro not being an Ange fullback.

I grant that he isn’t what one may first think of an Ange winger but he is a quality player and I’m sure they could make it work if they want to
