I thought he looked pretty good in the first half - had a few chances and did well with the other parts of the game. But, he looked well off the pace in the second half and needs to keep his head.

My main worry is we get into a Soldado situation (or Son last year maybe) where if he doesn't get a goal or two soon, his confidence will drop and the pressure will rise and he'll struggle even more.
Yea could become a Soldado/V.Janssen type situation.

Strikers more than any position is about confidence but Richy having to follow in Kane’s footsteps and with his at times negative body language he doesn’t help himself.

I thought 1st half he did ok really and unlucky on 2 occasions not to score, 2nd half he was poor, then fell on the ball, kicked out, got booked, head dropped right down, sulky, looked like he was about to get sent off and rightly subbed a few mins later by Ange.

Genuinely still think if he scores soon 🔜 he could kick on from there as he’s a sensitive lad and needs goals to take that pressure off but he really could help himself with a bit of a better attitude and head on his shoulders, he’s 26 years old now he’s not a ‘young player’ anymore, he’s Brazil’s n.o9, he needs to more than anything improve his mindset.

But we aren’t selling him this season no way so we need to stick with him for this season at least but we also need to absolutely sign another striker if anything to take some pressure off him.

I don't want to, but I agree with this. First half he looked good, was pressing well and getting around the pitch, was unfortunate with his chances. But 2nd half, there were a couple of poor decisions and poor touches and he was done. Clearly a confidence player and really needs a couple of goals.
Feel like I’m being harsh on him, because I think he’s a really hardworking player, and I love his personality. But how long do we give him to come good?

He’s never been good enough.

Hrs a petulant child who throws himself to the floor constantly.

He doesn’t even press well.

Can’t name one good thing about him other than he’s good in the air.

He’s always slow to come back from offside positions too.

Id offload him back to Everton (who he loves), to Saudi Arabia or to Juve and buy vlahovic who would improve us immensely.

vlahovic and son upfront will suffice with Scarlett or veliz as a back up.

thankfully Ange realised that richarlison’s tantrums was costing us.

Can’t start next league after that second half. Not sure I can remember a player so clearly losing his head as that, was visible. I would play Son through the middle in meantime as I think he will get goals with Maddison supplying.

The shame for Richy is that his best chance of getting a goal is when Perisic is on as he is more likely to cross. I don’t see him working alongside two inverted wingers.

He’s pants.
Edit: not sure why people are disagreeing. He fell over the ball. Put a header from a yard away 4 yards wide. He maybe low on confidence but he’s had a load of appearances now and other than 2 goals in the Cl he’s been poor.

I'm left feeling the same as I did last week. Richy works hard, and creates space by occupying the cbs. He presses hard. He helps out the team defensively. On his day he is capable of the sublime.

None of that is sufficient to make him the man to succeed Kane up top. He can't hold the ball up. He routinely flops after contact, but he rarely wins fouls doing it. His touch and technique is so inconsistent. Most critically, he is rarely in the right place in the box when the ball drops. He just isn't the instinctive poacher we need in this side. And his petulant attitude is letting him down and making things worse for himself. He is too in his own head and he doesn't look like he can play his way out of it.

Even if we believe in Richy, we need another striker. If he is injured we're left with Son up top. I love Son and he is good at stretching the backline, but he vacates the middle and we end up with 0 presence in the box to cross the ball into.

We sold perhaps our greatest ever player (at least of the PL era) and he needs to be replaced. Plug in a top striker and we're cooking.

Probably not much longer. Perisic has been good every time he’s come on, wouldn’t mind seeing him starting and put son through the middle.

I still think there’s a player here but I don’t think he can be our main man. We really need a new goalscorer.

I think a bit of patience is needed. When he gets his first goal, which he will, think he will be fine.

I do sometimes wonder about football fans, what happened to getting behind someone whos low on confidence. Its not like he's losing us points. FAF (fickle as fuck)

He's a disruptive LWF, he's hardly ever been asked to play with his back to goal and make indefatigable runs into the 6 yard box. I so feel he and Son are the wrong way round.

We say we’re the best fans in the world, then we need to act like it.

Kane gone, loads of pressure is on him and he is going through a really tough time and needs our amazing support regardless of our feelings for him.

Groaning on every Miss, misplaced pass or getting on at him he will never get through the bad spell and only impacts us as a team more than just derail him individually further.

No, he’s not my choice as my main stay forward, but until there are viable alternatives that we have purchased, he is gonna get my unwavering support

Narrator: "They were, in fact, cooking already..."
We're doing well offensively in spite of Richy rather than because of Richy in my view. It's a long season. I don't think you can rely on your midfielders and fullbacks to consistently score and assist all of your goals. I understand Ange's system is goals by committee, but eventually you need production from the front. We've gotten 1 goal contribution from the front 3 so far? Son i thought was dangerous today and played an important role. Kulu, despite being too ponderous at times, got his goal and looks to be working on being a winger that can go inside or out. Richy on the other hand has looked out of his depth.

He is nowhere near good enough out wide. He’s far too slow and doesn’t have good enough technique to play out there. Not a good dribbler or passer etc.

He is a striker he’s just not a very good one. He’s a lower half PL striker, Everton was his level.

We have to sign an attacker as a matter of urgency, either a top class winger or striker.

We are averaging more goals with Richarlison at striker, than we did with Kane at striker last season...
Last year we drew 2-2 with utd at home with mason. We scored 2 in a 2-2 away at Brentford and scored 3 away at Bournemouth. So technically we scored 1 more with kane than with richarlison in the same fixtures.

At this stage last year we had 7 goals in the first 3 games compared to six this year.

He's never played CF before, except for Brazil. Watford and Everton, Silva played him wide left and he always was effective in his way for them. You can see his discomfort and unfamiliarity with being a target man/fox in the box.

But let's be clear, he was effective enough at Everton and Watford in relegation scraps. He's going to need some clever coaching to find a way to pull him beyond that level... which we have to assume Ange is capable of.

We need another striker regardless of Richarlison because we’re short of options, so for me, Richy could have scored in every game so far… and I’d still want us to buy a rotation option.

However some of our fans are truly ridiculous and really rather embarrassing. Everyone was happy to sit there and say that last season none of our players were really in a system that suited them, people (rightly) said that we needed to see Richarlison in an attacking system, and that it would take time to adapt - for a large portion of fans, that was two and a half games. Now, literally every touch is berated, he gets criticised for not taking chances that aren’t even really there, and to be honest he hasn’t had one clear cut chance as of yet where he’s missed when the majority would have scored. Even today, look at the positioning, taking that shot first time most likely hits the defender, it was only a more deft touch that actually out it through the defenders legs.

He was fine in the first half, in fact he played well, but he came out in the second half and had a shocker, so of course, that shorter period second half made those same fans completely forget that he was fine first half and it was straight on his back to say he’d had a terrible game. Just wasn’t true, good first half, shocking second (until going off).

People talking about him being a confidence player, at the same time as he’s getting loads of abuse on social media and on here. Why on earth do you think his head drops? He sees the shite that fat blokes in pubs write about him online. It’s ridiculous, two and a half games.

See where he’s at in January, then decide. If he still hasn’t scored, and his head has truly gone and he’s storming about offering nothing, then fine. However don’t call yourself a fan, say we’re in a rebuild, say ange and the lads need time then immediately start tearing them apart after two and a half games.

Vicario was getting pelters after Brentford (where he did nothing wrong) “cheap option”, “should have been Raya”… all gone quiet now, seems giving him longer than ninety mins was a good idea. After the last two managers, no one should be being dragged down until we’ve seen what they play like in a consistent, football based system, where we actually attack and try and win games. Three games isn’t long enough to judge any of them.

Honestly think some of our fans wouldn’t watch if we won the league, because there would be no one to tear apart and call shit every week.

Try getting behind players.
