Hojberjg would not be my first choice, prefer an out and out destroyer. Hi is better than Winks and Sissoko as he is far more aggressive. He is far more inspirational, will give a rollicking when needed.
Yeah, his stats are very good. Never watched him though, but @HB_HeadCoach(recommend his account a lot, analyst and trained with Bergwijn), maybe just Hojbjerg is better fit for us? And did we actually were linked with Sangare before?

Just last year Hojbjerg had 4 goals and 4 assists in the prem.. Which is twice as many as Winks has in 138 appearances for us.If we can manage to craft a straight swap deal for KWP and him I can see how this is viewed as a sensible move by the club. And if we plan to bring in a RB, it’s probably worth the punt. But he’s not any better than Winks. He’s also not a no. 6!!!
There are no compilations up on YouTube for Winks’ season, but I guarantee you if they clipped Winks best moments together he’d look as impressive or better than Hojbjerg. Same goes for Winks stats if he played for Southampton
I remember many of the more critical comments about Hojbjerg being made about Wanyama when we signed him, I hope that this goes the same way if we sign him (apart from the bit where Wanyama's legs stopped working).
Sorry, in essence snap to the post above.Yeah he's an interesting one to look at as he's been pressed to fill a role in a southampton side that will likely be different than what we ask of him. I have confidence in his ability to adapt and become what we need due to his leadership characteristics and his early scouting reports at bayern. His flexibility, in ways, has probably been detrimental to his development, thus far. I think it's quite similar to Dier, as Dier has filled in at RB and DM for us when he absolutely is best at CB. I think he has the capability to excel as a DM if given a that role, definitively.
It is very much an opportunistic signing but I do think he will be an improvement to what we have there at present which is nothing.Sangare has been discussed here on SC for the past year or more which is why he was on my radar. Whether or not we've been credibly linked with him I'm not sure. At least with Sangare we'd be getting a younger player with significant scope to improve. If his biggest weakness is that he takes too many risks with the ball, you'd think that would be something that can be coached out of him. Hojbjerg is much more experienced and nearly three years older, so seems less likely to continue developing.
I honestly don't think we're linked with Hojbjerg because the scouting setup has identified him as the best player for our needs, but rather because he's a player whose contract is down to a year remaining at a club where we can ship an unwanted academy player in part exchange. It'd be a purely opportunistic signing of a player who I don't think is good enough. We desperately need a DM so I'm not opposed to it, I'm just thoroughly underwhelmed.
Tbh after a year of Winks and Sissoko at CDM, even if Hojbjerg is distinctly average, he'll probably look amazing to us.
After being lost in the desert even a warm can of Special Brew tastes like nectar from the gods.
Problem is that we’ve basically been a bit of a shambles for the last year and a half. Player progress has stalled, older players’ performances are dropping off a lot and recruiting has lacked an overarching plan. It’s a shame, as it’s affected most of the players’ performance.I'm really sad Winks is being seen like this. He was a quality youngster and then had the whole midfield dropped on his shoulders with little team structure around him for the last year and a half. I still think he's done an admirable job in the circumstances.

Ok sorry. Sissoko can be Special Brew.I'm really sad Winks is being seen like this. He was a quality youngster and then had the whole midfield dropped on his shoulders with little team structure around him for the last year and a half. I still think he's done an admirable job in the circumstances.

Winks is more like Bucks Fizz. If you squint it looks quite classy and is enjoyable in the right circumstances, but lacks strength and you'd usually prefer something else.
Just having a laugh mate.Well if you want to be a **** about it. Cool.

Just having a laugh mate. I like Winks but there's no denying he's not a great defensive midfielder. I'm fine with him playing alongside someone else if the game suits him or as part of a 3, just don't think we'll get anywhere with him or Sissoko as our deepest midfielder.
I think it's very useful to have a player like him in the squad as he can slow the play down, pass under pressure and retain the ball. We don't have any other midfielders who have that same metronomic ability as Winks and he's great if you want to play keep-ball or hold onto a lead.Fair play. I just think he was thrown under a truck by Poch (with Mourinho admittedly randomly persisting with it occasionally) in a formation that didn't suit him. I think my football sense of humour died in the last year and a half.
