When a winger is taking on Destiny I always feel comfortable that he'll stop them, when Porro can do that he will be the absolute best but that's what he needs to improve on.
The rest of his game is the business.

First half defensively was a bit shaky, but second half he locked down that right hand side, especially that Rashford 1v1. His ball striking and attacking quality is irreplaceable in this side. A real magician with the ball at his feet.

Thought he played well, second half his defensive play was better, which was pleasing to see.

his ability to get into space to receive the ball, then have the vision to make short and long insightful passes and push forward is invaluable. He (and Destiny) really are key to how we build out from the backs I’ll take some defensive concerns every now and again

He's got a wand of a right foot and seems tailor made for this system. It's strange because both he and Udogie look like they are made for this system despite both offering very different skill sets. I thought defensively he was really up against it today and was exposed too often. Did well at times but also lost out. I don't think any fullback ever really wins 100% of the time and those usually have technical deficiences.

Porro's delivery was appalling against Burnley so assuming that was a weird blip cos it was phenomenal today.

Amazing how he has stamped his name on that position. Not sure anyone thought he was going to be this dominant in that position before the season started. A lot of it will be down to the coaching but the guy has worked hard and stepped up to the plate and is smashing it out of the park. Magnificent today.

Pedro Porro has now provided more assists in 2023/24 than any Tottenham defender has ever managed in a single Premier League campaign (7).

Not knocking the bloke - but his corners against Burnley in the cup were awful (made up for it with the goal!) - perhaps that is one of the things they have been working on this week, becuase the corners yesterday were much better.

Yep awesome going forward and his dead ball delivery is mustard.

However, his discipline as a defender first and foremost is not great. Both he and Udogie are regularly out of position and are too narrow when out of posession. Quite regularly, we find ourselves in trouble because the opponent has a player spare out wide and Rashford made the most of that yesterday.

Having said that, this is a small blip really. He's been excellent otherwise.

I wonder if perhaps a back three would offer more cover in those areas when we are not in possession. I think we finished the game yesterday with a back 3.

In general he's been phenomenal this season. On target for 12-15 assists which is incredible for a full-back.

Needs to score though, 33 shots without registering is it? 😁
He scored a worldie just a week ago to win our cup game!

I watched him get into a few similar positions last night as the one where he scored from against Burnley, and I was willing him to have another go from there. It makes a huge difference having a threat from long range strikes because otherwise we're always looking to walk it in from wide positions.

He’s not out of position , this is a deliberate tactic for him to play inside and overload the midfield , the downside is we leave space out wide and rely on him to get back or the 2 centre backs to cover for him . It’s the risk and reward football he plays.

Yep, was just about to reply with the same. We don't play a flat-back four, or even a wing-back style. Really we play more a 2-5-3 with the full-backs playing a false inside-forward type role.

To be fair the Burnley game was a blip. His delivery has been consistently outstanding this season.

It was all strangely floaty vs Burnley rather than whipped in. Maybe they spotted something in Burnley's set piece defending on video and tried something different, but whatever happened it was a one-off in terms of lack of quality. He's been consistently good all season.
