Also that Senegal team is extremely talented and stacked. They're easily the best team in Africa. Sarr wasn't ever an undisputed starter tbf, but surprised he didn't get any minutes. At least he's being eased back in regardless.

I find it really, really, difficult to find a downside to Sarr not playing in AFCON.

He is there to represent his country, so its a huge honor for him to be selected - but any rest he gets, is fine by me.

if they could just do the honorable thing and get knocked out of the tournament as quickly as possible while resting him that would be great.

Nah would love for him to win it. I think people can be a bit ignorant when it comes to these titles. They're a big deal for the players involved. Like we go crazy if England won the euros. We'd probably have a national holiday for it.

As much as I do agree people don't understand that these are big deals for the players (Son and South Korea especially), in this case Sarr has already won it so it's only fair they go out early and give someone else a turn.. :cautious:

The problem, as I've understood it, is that he'll only be HG in the eyes of the PL. So in Europe it won't matter, but I think he'll count as U21 in Europe next season anyway.
He won't count as U21 unfortunately, he will need to be registered. Next season, to qualify as U21 (List B) players need to be born on or before 1st January 2003.

This is the ruling for the current season:
"A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 2002 and since his 15th birthday has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year."

It's better for our players to come home late as champions, rather than early as losers.
Don't understand how people aren't realizing this, they grow on this.

Would that be UK wide? Can't imagine there being street parties and wild celebrations in Scotland....
