This one is the same as the Raya/Vicario situation. Some at the top end preferring VDV, others Tapsoba But pretty much everyone unanimous that either would be a solid signing and a good fit for how we are looking to play moving forward. I've not heard anything in the last 24 hours or so, so I don't know how close it is, but we were 100% talking to Tapsoba's people over the weekend as well. I was told quite matter of factly that we wouldn't be getting both, and we were looking at either/or plus a homegrown option with one eye on the future, so lets see how it pans out. If we've found a different HG option for elsewhere perhaps Tapsoba also now is possible. My guy was convinced it wouldn't be both though.

Highly frustrating when I had 3/4 updates and rather than posting in one place (if only we had a designated thread for ITK), I'll have to go to individual player threads. Please stop getting the ITK Thread shut ffs!

The "read only" ITK and the Transfer ITK thread are the best things about this site and the main reason I come onto the site. However, the constant shutting down of the Transfer ITK thread is really frustrating particularly as it comes after the big push to secure contributions. Whatever happened to free speech ? I'm probably going to be banned from the site now for voicing my views.

Conor Gallagher has been mentioned as a replacement for PEH to be fair.

Personally I'd have seen Tosin (the obvious HG CB option) as a Sanchez replacement, more of a stand in for Romero.

It's not just a case of keeping one and we'll be fine. you are still only allowed x amount of non HG so the HG ones you have need to be of use. Also we are building a squad not just for this season but for the next few years and have to be mindful of creating a squad eligible for European competition. The idea is revolution this Summer, and then evolution in the following transfer windows.

I appreciate that but that just makes me think we should get both more. If we're planning for the long term get the best options. A player like Lenglet will need to be sold under long contract not far down the line. We need to be ruthless clearing out the non homegrown who aren't good enough taking up space.

Sad to see how content we are with the ambition shown, look down the road at what the Scum are doing, quietly, buying big and hard in the key places, if all is to be believed. And we're bargain hunting, saving a few quid here and there hoping the Ange is the second coming and can turn everyone into some kind of dream team.

The jury us out on 2 out of 3 signings. Both have had terrible seasons. I'd be livid if we spent 100m eur on them.

When I played football (not to any decent level) I was a CB - and watching the Tapsoba highlight videos (yeah I know...) got me genuinely excited about him as a prospect - stayed on his feet and won the ball effortlessly with great timing, awareness and of course aided by great physical attributes.

He was definitely my preferred choice if we werent going to be investing properly in two CBs.

However I am reassured by the noise coming out that MVdV was subject to proper scrutiny and the Club seems to have had a scouting plan. If Ange is happy, I guess I can be too. Though he isn't a finished article and don't think he will transform the defence completely this year.

No one gets banned for simply voicing their views. The ITK section has rules for a reason and gets shut down because a few complete tools break them.

All discussion would then have to happen in the player threads, which is probably the best place for it anyway, and it wouldn't have to be modded as hard for your good self?

Also be much easier for the rest of us to get the updates?

Not a bad idea.

One of the inherent contradictions I find within the ITK thread is that we're meant to discuss ITK and leave the player discussion to the player threads...except the ITK is almost always about players which naturally encourages discussion about them. I always feel like I'm walking a tight-rope between on-topic and off-topic in that thread and it's hard to define sometimes.

The majority of posters then get penalised because of the few. Why not temporarily ban the offenders who don't follow the rules?
