I wish he was given a squad place today. We had one true offensive option on the bench compared to 3 defenders and 2 CMs. I know he's young hut it does boggle my mind, especially when he killed it mid-week

Hopefully he'll be given a run-out, at least as a sub, in the League Cup and will impress enough to earn a place on the bench in matches such as today's. We need to have him as an option when we're creating fuck all.

Edwards needs to be given a place on the bench and given 15 mins to see if he can make an impact... We needed someone like him yesterday

I will be going to watch u23s at Stevenage tomorrow night and I am hoping not to see Edwards name on the team sheet leaving him free for Tuesday against Barnsley.

On recent form Edwards deserves his chance,he has score goals as well as being creative for others,I can see he has improved in his pressing and work rate off the ball even if it is not perfect yet it has improved a hell of a lot for him.

He looks like he has upped his game showing a good attitude and delivering performances that should give him his chance.

Really hoping he plays a staring role this week And gives us another option in the AM position. We're desperate for someone who can beat his man

If we massively rotate and Edwards isn't on the bench at least it's a joke to be honest. He's used the recent youth games to show he's ready for opportunities in games like Barnsley. There's absolutely no reason he shouldn't be on the bench and given 30 mins minimum. Would be poor from Poch if he isn't in my opinion.

Pretty sure he will get a look in, in some capacity at least. Only reason he wouldn't is if he's picked up a knock or isn't considered 1st team fit yet.

Agreed with this - he's on great form and clearly pushing hard for a place, time to acknowledge that and put him in the XI or the squad in the cup. Would love for him to be regularly coming into games by the end of the season (although i admit this is optimistic potentially) like Winks did last year.

Just to echo what many have said - Edwards is the type of player we've lacked in these opening games. That combined with a lack of all-round sharpness has cost us early points - whilst it's a bit early for him to fulfill that role at the moment, it's time to start getting him involved in the cups and we can go from there.

I don't think I'd use him from the start yet - whether its League Cup or Champions League - Drip feed him in to start with, 20-30 mins later in games.

Agree, against tiring legs he could be quite explosive. Plus it takes the pressure off his role in the game slightly.

#thfc Poch says Oakley-Boothe, GKN, Winks will be involved but Edwards will not. "He's building physical condition & confidence with U23s."

Cue a million people complaining that he isn't being given the chance he deserves, despite Pochettino a) seeing him every day in training and b) having a reputation for playing young players who deserve a chance.

There is literally nothing anyone can point to about Edwards that can justify thinking they know better than Pochettino when it comes to the youth team players. That's not to say he's perfect - he's made some questionable choices recently that are certainly up for debate (the wing backs on Saturday being an obvious recent example) - but this isn't a player with a catalogue of first-team peformances that fans can draw opinions from, Pochettino sees far, far more of Edwards than any of us (most of whom are relying on second-hand reviews and Youtube clips, or at absolute best performances in youth games as that's all he's had so far), and bar the romantic idea of wanting to see a young, hyped-up kid come in and become a superstar overnight, there's really no justification for questioning Poch on this one.

If a player like Nkoudou is getting games ahead of him then maybe, just maybe, Edwards simply isn't ready or (say it quietly) isn't good enough right now. Relax, if he's good enough then in time he will get his chances.
