Why do I have a feeling Verts wont play - would be cruel Poch trolling there if he brings him out here in the press and then benches him

I think champions league rules state that the player that does the press conference has to start. Not sure where I got that from but 99% sure

I wouldnt be surprised if a Belgian CB sits. But i’ll be floored if it’s Jan.

I learn something new everyday and given its 9.07am, my day is now considered done.

Seems Verts wants to stay but the sticking point could be the length of contract he wants.

“My contract is not a distraction. I’m very aware of my age.

“But I feel like I still have good years left in me. I hope I can help the team for as long as I can. I was disappointed not to start the season. But that shows I’m still ambitious.”

My favorite player. How fucking graceful on the ball is this guy. Actually I think most of my posts on this site are in this thread.

While I don't think any of the goals were his fault, watching them again at the end more than half of them were shots going past Jan. I wonder if his age has caught up a bit - where he's just not able to close down to block shots as quickly anymore.

I might be being harsh, it just really stood out once I noticed it.

Generally as a team we need to work on closing players down though.

His the best left back at the club. His not quick enough or imposing enough for me at the back and imo Sanchez should be first choice.

It's so weird. He's gone from being one of the best defenders we've had since King to being an absolute shell of himself in 6 months

The entire defence is slow. Maybe that's why we've not really played our pressing games for a long time. We've got to rebuild the entire back line.

or park Dier in front of them. We havent played with a true DM in months. Yeah they're getting old but as others have pointed out, its easy for even decent teams to break our midfield down.
