Great player - certainly seems a top bloke with it as well - sad to see him go, but accept it’s probably the right decision.... would like to see him back when he finishes playing

All the best jan ????????

I'm so gutted that Jan has left us without at least a domestic Cup medal to remind his time with us.

As others have alluded to, him and Toby formed one of the best centre back partnerships, not just for this for this club but the league has ever seen.

I can't remember what match it was, but I certainly won't forget the utter despair on Jan's face when he was taken off and sat on the subs bench as if he had lost someone dear, knowing his time with us was just about up.

Goodbye Jan. Of all the recent departures from our club, his and Mousa's hurt the most personally.

I know it's no medal, but he did give us our last season at the Lane. I don't know about everyone else but that season and the home record was amazing and something I'll remember just as fondly as any domestic cup. What a way to say goodbye to it was.

I am incredibly sad that he is going. To be at the club for that length of time is a real achievement. Sad he has no medal (Audi Cup..........;)) but he brought us up a level for sure and one of the best defenders we have had in my lifetime.

I hope he has a move lined up and I would be surprised if he does not have lots of offers and options already.

Thanks Jan.

 He'll be massive loss in the dressing room.

Love this. Love what he said about the Chelsea game.

I’m kind of glad he’s been dropped most of this season because I’ve been eased into him leaving. If he had been at his absolute prime playing every game, I’d have been utterly devastated.

Thanks Jan, right up alongside Ledley as our best and most cultured defender of recent times. See you back here in a few years in a coaching capacity.

Legend legend legend... I thought vertonghen can play till 35 atleast !!! But this season suddenly it looked like he lost his pace ... Ramos at the age of 34, still killing it in real madrid... Loosing vertonghen hurts me more personally then loosing bale or modric to be honest.

Hopefully oneday, he will become our coach or club ambassador or anything so that he remains connected to the club.

I just wish we could get two more seasons out of vertonghen.

Adios Super Jan. Proper Spurs legend.

Seeing Jan leave without so much as a League Cup winner's medal is deeply upsetting. I know the transition we've been through as a Club and the progress we made under Pochettino... but the next few years really needs to be about getting some silverware, by hook or by crook. The players and the Club deserve it.

Do we think he wanted to stay but the club didnt want it. He could have been a very useful squad player next season

"I think he can still play three more years easily. After that, if he wants to join the club as a coach or any football related job the door is always welcome for him at Tottenham Hotspur."
