Hugo Lloris - "Arsene can say what he wants, but this is the club I will stay with. I love the spirit, the philosophy and the people.

“That’s very important to me. Spurs play the football I love – exciting and entertaining.”

I think its just you, I think he gets Spurs more than most.
When did he say this recently ?

Maybe he’s up for giving Ange's style of football a go for a year then. We won’t her much money for him so I’m fine if he stays he can teach vicario but I’d really love a new different captain mabye Bentancur or Son etc. Assuming Kane goes.

He should indeed be a legend, and now holds the record for most premiership appearances for Spurs.

However, I get this feeling that we dont feel this warmth when we talk about Lloris, not the same kind of warmth when we talk about not just Kane (of course) and Son (of course too) but the likes of Lennon, King, Defoe etc.

Maybe its just me.
I sort of agree, i'd argue there'd be more warmth to a player like Vertonghen for example. But I also think with time Lloris will be appreciated a lot more once some of those recent painful memories fade (Zagreb, Leipzig, Newcastle etc.), because the bigger picture tells you he was loyal, and ultimately a top class keeper for the most part.

No one ever really appreciates the goalkeeper. I find comments about his character strange, because its his temperance and humanity that leads to peers and compatriots putting him in positions of leadership. He'll likely make an excellent manager/coach.

If he stays for another season then I'll be delighted.

I think he’ll probably move on now, but he’s been great for us and France over the last decade. You don’t become a World Cup winning captain if you haven’t got something about your personality that makes people follow you. He’s clearly an elite leader and I do hope he goes on to have a leadership role in the game, if not as a coach/manager then as a director of football or something.

I really can't see why we'd want him to stay another year.

The performances aren't there any more, and he isn't going to want to play back-up to Vicario when he could go be a #1 in most leagues.

Vicario as #1 with Forster as back-up and Hugo moving on is a good deal for all parties, I think.

Yeah and to be brutally honest we likely need his wages off the books so we can bring new players in.

Club legend. No doubts about it.

Gave his prime years to the Club while he was arguably one of the top 5 goalkeepers in wold football.

Surely after his comments about wanting a new challenge he'll be leaving this summer?

Also surely a bit demeaning and awkward for a former world class keeper and club captain like Lloris to stay at the club as a backup for his final season after being the undisputed number 1 for a decade.

Feel like it's in everyone's interests for him to go now.

(Definitely a modern legend, though, and should get a testimonial).

I wonder if they’ll wait for the players to return before any announcement of him moving on is made.

After being at the club for so long and such a key figure, I’d imagine we’d want to give him a decent sending off. Would be hugely underwhelming otherwise.

I cannot believe that's got so many agrees, if people feel that way then fair enough but I'm just really surprised.
He cost us a lot of games for many years now. Shit the bed in the biggest games and made our whole team nervous.

Just as many mistakes, if not more than Sanchez, Dier and Davies who people are hounding out. Glad to see him gone personally, wish him the best but certainly won't miss him.

IMHO the leaky defence in front of him didn’t help leaving him woefully exposed.

Over the years he’s definitely saved us more times than he’s cost us and given us his prime years when he easily could have left us in search of trophies.

He deserves our respect!

He has also won us crucial games and points. City in the Champions League at the new stadium, Arsenal at Wembley come t.

He has been here 10 years, so yes there will have been mistakes. De Gea has been the same.

He won the world cup as Captain. Let's not go all revisionist just because of the past couple of seasons.
