He's been a great servant to the club, and was a serious upgrade on what we had before.

The one big thing I remember was when he joined he talked about goalkeeping being analytical/mathematical and it was all about angles.

The guy has made some serious saves and helped us along the way. Yes in the last year he has dropped off, but I prefer to remember him for the good times, it's not his fault he was put under so much pressure.

When he played at his best, he was one of the best sweeper keepers around, early off his line to rush out and meet anything coming his way.

Thanks for the memories Hugo, you sexy french bastard, and good luck for the future.

Merci Beaucoup

I felt like his signing was one that really showed we were amongst the big boys. Van Der Vaart was obviously the big coup but he was a declining star who probably had to drop to our level, but Hugo was France's captain and still to enter his peak, and have always felt lucky we were able to snag him when he'd have been a great signing for the big boys.
Was considered a big coup at the time, especially for the price we paid too.

Heaven forbid any of us don’t want Lloris to stay any longer.

Normally I agree with a lot of what you say, but, leave the sexy french guy alone.

Yes he's been a bit shit for a year, but for the majority of the 11 years he's been a great servant.

Also, he was never any good under pressure and our last couple of managers exacerbated that.

In my eyes, he could have left us many a time to join a better team but he didn't, he deserves to be seen as a club legend as what he has achieved with club and country is magnificent.

We get pissed off when good players leave early, but lloris has potentially overstayed his welcome.

Don't let that ruin the last 10 years of amazing service our captain has given us.

I haven’t said anything of the sort.

Just said I’m not sad to see him go - because I’m not.

And I won’t miss him - because I won’t.

I 100% get that and respect your opinion.

But in my eyes, the short term memory shouldn't ruin the legacy of Hugo.

He has been behind every good thing we have ever done, and I appreciate him.

Admittedly He's passed his sell by date now, I hope he moves on and makes an obscene amount of money for his family.

But let's say well done for sticking through the 11 years of shit, constant change of manager, and not shying away from being honest, and top of that, being a fucking amazing goalie in his day.

A fine shot stopper, but poor at his near post, and dreadful in terms of distribution. The latter never improved. Also not a good choice as captain; probably should have lost the armband after he got banned from driving post being on the lash.

Glad most fans give him the respect he deserves.

Crazy the hate he gets from a small section of fans. It is right time for him to go and maybe it should have been last year, but he has been a great keeper for us for many years and was a key part during our peak under Poch, just such a shame we couldn't quite get over the line in multiple finals or go that 1 higher in the league.

I agree I think he has been a very good keeper for us both in terms or longevity and reliability - I would say over the years I have been watching he probably ranks 2nd or 3rd behind Jennings but about level with Clemence who was a very different goalkeeper - Lloris has changed his game from when he arrived when his escapades out of his goal were interesting bordering on reckless that stopped over time of course he has made a few mistakes but not that many - sadly keepers in good sides get remembered for their mistakes rather than their consistency even Clemence who was a very steady eddy and all I can think of is Barcelona and Watford

He should indeed be a legend, and now holds the record for most premiership appearances for Spurs.

However, I get this feeling that we dont feel this warmth when we talk about Lloris, not the same kind of warmth when we talk about not just Kane (of course) and Son (of course too) but the likes of Lennon, King, Defoe etc.

Maybe its just me.

the thing is... i am pretty sure statistically, most people's favorite player will likely be an outfield player with strikers always the ones getting the headlines, closely followed by wingers and creative players. also, fewer people will buy goalkeeper jerseys, so we see less of his name around in general.

for my time supporting Spurs, Lloris is most definitely no.1 in the goalkeeping department, followed by Robbo and Walker. Absolute Spurs legend.

Hugo Lloris - "Arsene can say what he wants, but this is the club I will stay with. I love the spirit, the philosophy and the people.

“That’s very important to me. Spurs play the football I love – exciting and entertaining.”

I think its just you, I think he gets Spurs more than most.

If youre referring to my comment, then i wasnt alluding that he doesnt like Spurs, but it is Spurs fans who dont warm up to him like we do to King, Defoe, Lennon et al.

2 different things altogether

Totally disagree - loyal to us through his best years as a world class goalkeeper, even when we were struggling. Would put him ahead of Lennon, Defoe and Kane.

Sonny on the same kind of level for me. King a step up.

Definite legend and I hope he makes his way back to the club in some capacity in the future.
