I think he might have technically become a better player, but he didn't preform better. Like, even the most generous appraisals of Bale's time in Madrid would admit to him being inconsistent. Bale shone for Madrid during the big moments, but that is really what he was known for there, for 'moments'.I don't disagree totally, but I still think that was a raw Bale back then, and not totally developed. He was, by and large, tearing up teams back then. I still think he actually became a better player at Real though.
Bale left to early to become the player he could have been, and he matured, but I don't think he consistently hit those heights for Madrid. So technically, maybe yes, but in practice, no. I also don't think we will get a peak real Madrid Bale either, considering that peak Madrid Bale was almost three years ago at this point. Time doesn't stop for anyone. I do think he will be an effective player for us however.
I'm not sure he was raw when he left us either, and in 2012/2013 his game wasn't built on pace as it was in the seasons before, but it was roy of the rovers stuff. Never seen anything like it, never seen a team so reliant on one player. I will say if Bale becomes a useful if not spectacular player I hope people will accept that and not live the dream of what he was.
