I've been fully on this bandwagon for the last few windows but I think this opportunity has long passed now. He's older and has hardly played competitive football for 18 months, and only sporadic before that. I find it hilarious how he winds up the Madrid fans/board/media but it does also question if the hunger to play is still there.

He'll probably end up somewhere like the MLS if they could afford him. Supposedly MLS was the most lucrative offer for Willian before he chose Arsenal.

Living in Los Angeles and following MLS pretty well I think that they could afford it. I'm pretty sure LAFC is paying Vela a nut and I wouldn't be shocked if he signs for NY redbull or more likely NYFC for a couple of reasons. NYFC is owned by Man City and could 100% afford his wages, New York is a relatively short flight out to Wales and is probably the shortest flight from US to UK, He would be the best player in the league without having to break a sweat. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he loves soccer and the grind all that jazz but I'm sure he wouldn't mind being the biggest star in the MLS without really having to put in too much work... Plus when he is in California he can play Pebble Beach hahaha

The MLS is a curious league to watch. Crowded stadiums and eager supporters every match. Does the people of 'Murica just enjoy the outdoor smell and going to games or do they really like 'soccer'?

Was at a few quakes games pre lockdown. Shit football, great food and an annoying pensioner with a drum. Crowds love it.

They really like 'soccer'

According to one list that I saw it's the 4th most popular sport shown on TV, with only NFL, Basketball and Baseball above it. The same for participation. I guess you can find all sorts of list that move 'soccer' up or down a place or two but it's undeniably very very popular over there.

This should be just about doable....just need to lay off 55 members of staff to cover those wages . :cautious:

Don’t think Bale (sadly) is that arsed re football anymore. Might roll back the years every now and again in a Welsh shirt but that’s ya lot.
