Don't get wrong, I'm excited af. But him playing for Utd next august because we helped him resestablish himself would make me sick to my f stomach. :)

You have to remember that Bale has done everything he wants to do in the game except win a major trophy with Wales or possibly do something big with the club that he loves. He's coming back to a place he feels loved. Why would he then after a summer go to the likes of United or PSG? There's nothing there he hasn't already done.

Is anyone, who's as pessimistic as me, feels that a one-year loan is really bad for us?

Worst case scenario: Bale is as awesome as we all want him to be. Loan finishes, back to Madrid paying 600k a week. We say, we want him permanently!" They say, "see how good he is! You can have him for 600k p/w!" We say, "we can't afford that." Bale's agent says, "Thanks for shop windowing my client, he's going to Utd/City/PSG/Bayern etc. See ya!"

The only way the deal is a long-term benefit is that we have him to for two years, or that we have already negotiated the second year and that it's triggered in the summer if all goes well.

I don't want us to be a stepping stone for Bale to play for someone else, is basically what I'm saying.

I share your concerns, but I’m just going to enjoy it for what it is.

Because if it's true he now wants to play football, then he won't want to sit around playing golf, and if we can't afford 600k p/w, only those other clubs can.

But if the twitter post about a two-year loan are true, then it's all gravy.

I just really need to know the terms behind the loan deal... there has to be some sort of option/obligation? Otherwise whats the point?

I'm so excited to see Kane alongside Bale leading the line for Spurs. Two living (and playing) club legends in the same team. World-class players, trained by the club, loved by the fans.

Not many fans get to experience even having one player like that in a generation. We'll have two playing together!

Don't worry about that. At that point he is too old for our competitors. There are younger talents out there to fight for, Sancho for example.

He could have gone to United now if he had wanted to. He rejected them.. for us. :)

Yeah, I know. But if we can't pay 600k p/w NEXT YEAR and Bale wants to play football, where's he going to go? To a club who CAN pay 600k p/w.

Look, don't worry about it. I can't wait to see him play either. Love him.

What ever happened to him?

He plays semi pro in the 9th tier of football for a team called South Normanton Athletic :(

I just looked it up now and was surpised - you always assume players from our academy would at least make it to league 2 or national league. Must be tough to take

I genuinely don't care if he's with us for one or two years or even the rest of his career. He's the player who made me fall in love with Spurs at a time where no one cared about Tottenham here in France (not sure this changed much since then though), he's my childhood hero. Just knowing that he'll play AT LEAST one more game for us is enough to make me more than happy.

I know this doesn’t mean that much but Bale has the 8th biggest footballer social media following in the world. He has 43M about the same as Zlatan and James Rodriguez. Kane has 10M. He’s really going to raise our profile globally.
