Has Bale taken a 50% paycut to accommodate Real's change of mind then?
I read it that his weekly wage will be in line with our other highest earners but we will also be giving him a lump sum up front which, in essence, is the balance of his wage lost over the period. I think.

No idea, it doesn't say that. In fact it says we will pay bale 100% of the wage. Whatever wage we agree on I assume.

It does say we will pay Bale an initial fee, like a transfer fee, and we will pay nothing to Real Madrid initially. But later will pay, what is really a symbolic fee. So it is unlikely he is taking as much as a 50% cut, but he might be taking some sort of wage reduction.

These are the kinds of deals that are only remotely possible when you have a massive stadium (even if it's not being filled right now), a top manager and a reputation as a club (even if our last result was awful!) that wants to be elite.

There is no way it would happen had we still been at WHL. No way.

Credit where credit's due.

This is a Levy masterstroke.

A day ago people were calling for Levy's head.

Its astonishing how many people underrate his business acumen, he is pretty much second to none in getting the best deal for our club.

To pull off a signing like this is almost impossible, and pretty much would be if it weren't for Levy.

Bale wants to play for Spurs. If he didn't, do you seriously think we'd even have a sniff?

How that translates into a Levy masterstroke is beyond me :D

Fair play to him IF this happens but this has a lot more to do with the stars and planets aligning just right than any so called genius move by our dear leader. It's a no brainer.

So all along all we needed to do to get Bale back was drop out of the CL, go into Europa League and play like a mid table team. Mad we didn’t try that before!

Some people will just never be happy.
We got Bale = But we still need a CAM
it is like someone handing you the keys to a bugatti and you complaining about the color.
Just enjoy this for a minute before you bang on bitching about something else.

Who else is waiting to see Bale’s and Reguilon’s fantasy football price and adding them to their team regardless of how much they cost? :D

300k per week is 15m per year. That's a 30m transfer fee on £300k wages assuming they're not lowered further. Another 10m for Real and that doesn't actually seem that bad at all considering it's a very very specific set of circumstance.

Ronaldo rarely turned up for the big finals and if Bale wasnt in his shadow at RM he could have been one of the greats
Injuries didn't help, as well as prioritising of Ronaldo. But, ultimately, he was always considered to be a player of great moments not great games at Real Madrid. He wasn't seen to contribute much apart from goals and assists, now obviously those are the two most important things so most Real Madrid fans before the last 2/2 1/2 years saw him as useful and effective without being particularly brilliant.

I already bought Bale on my FIFA career mode with Spurs and he just scored an absolute screamer on the counter against Southampton. Wouldn't mind if it happened again this week :sneaky:
