Jokes aside: is the injury thing slightly over-played? Just did a check on Transfermarkt and compared him with Kane, who has his injury problems but would certainly not be considered crocked.

Days missed due to injury since start of 2016/17 season:
Kane - 292 days
Bale - 315 days

That's only 3 weeks difference. Obviously this is a massively simplified way of looking at a complex problem (types of injuries, frequency vs severity, etc.), but it did make me wonder.

I don’t think it’s so much that Kane’s injury record is aspirational as much as Real Madrid fans are much bigger prats than we are.

I feel that there will be movement tonight. Blimey can’t take that long to sort out

Yeah exactly. There's either a desire to get it done or why bother, if we're miles away.

If we're within range of an agreement, which i think we are, you wouldn't expect negotiations to drag on for several days on a deal as high profile as this.

I honestly think the club needs the mental boost he would give us. Ever since the summer 2018 window, there's been a dark cloud hanging over the club and everything has seemed steeped in negativity. Jose steadied the ship a bit when he came in, but here we are one match into the new season and everything seems dour again. Bale would give us a massive lift, which is much needed IMO.

The amount of money bet on players transferring is so small that any reasonable (even £100 invested) sways the odds significantlly.
It is not like some of the other (winning the league, Top 4) markets where much more is invested and the odds don't sway that much.
Bookies aim to make money whatever the outcome (they are not gamblers, and their margins are small, it is about volume) so have to entice money on some outside bets to offset the money they have taken on the favourite, which is usually the only market loser for the bookie.
If you were tossing a coin, the bookmaker would not offer you even money on heads or tails, they would offer maybe 20/21 on each outcome initially, If you placed small bet on heads, they would change odds to even money for tails and say 10/11 on heads for example, enticing the next bet to be tails, so they win on either outcome

Well it seems like Gareth is open to coming home. In that case shouldn’t we change our profile pictures to one of Daniel Levy to show our support to Dear Leader as he tries to get this tough deal over the line? ?

...no?

Ok I’ll leave

Just watched Ally Gold’s YouTube video about this. He genuinely talks as if it’s a very likely deal. Sort of video that would make him look silly if it doesn’t happen and he goes to United. Also a really odd video to make when he is normally someone to play down deals until they are virtually done. Hmm...
