He’s in the Spurs website pictures from training today, which is odd if the transfer is genuinely as close as Romano says.

given that Bryan is in Japan for the olympics, I’d say this is not quite over the line.

Coco was one player that you knew would give his all for us.

If he is gone, I echo the sentiments that thank him for his service.

None of the things his supporters in here love him for have anything to do with any tangible output on a football pitch. None. Just shithousery and passion. Do me a favour.

I would hate to think what you rate half our other attacking players if you don't think he has anything else to his game!

Never saw the fuss in Lamela and he frustrated the shit out of me but mostly people on here who waxed lyrical about a very ordinary player.

However in the last 3-4 yrs he grew on me a little. A squad player at best in his time and not a nailed on starter....... I must add I liked his energy when he came on ....whether we were losing or defending a 1-0 lead under pressure and he always turned a game I felt....well most times. As Bulllet Spur said we'll say in a game in the season to come.....now we'd need Lamela to come re-energize the team.

The trolling of Fabregas and Wilshere won’t be forgotten. Nor his rabonas.

I’m not sure he was what we thought he was going to be, but he was still ours and I will remember him fondly. That number 11 shirt was hard to step into at the time!

People are welcome to their opinion & the vast majority appreciate Lamela's contribution but I don't believe he gets the credit & respect he deserves from some of our fanbase. Honestly, it leaves me suspecting that some don't realize or understand the intricacies of the game & how much he has to offer both on & off the ball.

Some of the best coaches in recent history praise him highly & relied on him in crucial situations. Even if I knew nothing of the game, that would be very telling for me.

I'll miss him & I'll continue following his career. He's a player with definite skill, vision & heart.

He may not be a team legend, though definitely a cult hero, but at the very least, the club should honour him by naming the physio room after him. ;)

Coco ?

You’ll be missed.

Shithousery, passion, dedication.

You got it. You understood the pride you should feel playing for this club.

But away from that you were also an underrated footballer with flashes of great skill and ingenuity - perhaps curtailed by horrible injury luck.

If you go, it will be with nothing but best wishes and appreciation. ‘Trying hard’ and ‘caring’ might be considered a given for being a professional sportsman - yet you seemed to be one of the few who really did.

Better luck with injuries and he would have been highly regarded. Certainly had the talent.

I think there was a run of games that he had (15/16?? or perhaps the season after) where he was turning into our best player...or one of the best.

And then he got injured.

Oh well, good luck Coco; gone but not forgotten (y)

Let’s be honest, Lamela has been disastrous for us. I don’t care how much he ran around, or how much “passion for the badge” he showed, he was fucking shit. S.H.I.T. This (or whenever it happens) is (or will be) a great day for the club, and my only regret about it will be that it didn’t happen a lot sooner.

no need to be a prick about it, you dont rate him, thats fine. You're entitled to an opinion but to claim "is a great day for the club" is disrespectful as fuck.

This! All day long.

Too many fans these days bitch and moan about player loyalty, being mercenaries etc but same fans will gladly slag off players like Lamela who has been here nearly a decade, always gave everything on the pitch despite his obvious injuries etc. Same fans also talk about home grown talents like winks like he isn't even good enough to be a pro.

Loyalty works both ways, you can't bitch about the lack of it with players and then treat our loyal players like that.

Rant over but Tibsy put it much more eloquently than I have.

There's no need to be a peeEyeEmpeenarse about it really :)

I'm firmly in the "I'll miss you Erik" camp. Never had a problem with him. Great pity about the injuries. Erik is Spurs for sure. No doubt he'll be a Spurs supporter for life. You just know this guy loves the club and would go to war for it. If only more of the players had even 50% of his attitude and passion for the club. Go well Erik.

It will always be a case of what could have been for Lamela with his unfortunate injury record. But the fact he is still here 8 years after we signed him is testament to his ability and reliability on the pitch.

He might not have developed into the flair player we all wanted but you knew he played for the badge, and always raised the intensity of the side when he was playing. His ability to pass/play between the lines and carry the ball gave us something different too. Then there is the shithousery and Rabonas. A proper cult legend and those are rare these days.

Will miss him but wish him all the best at Seville.

Gave 100% every time, that's why I'll always respect him. His rabona, shithousery, pure hatred for rivals are something I will always remember. Wish him nothing but the best.
