💯 but as we will only be signing max 1 more CB I still think he’s our best 4th choice option for the remainder of the season, certainly better than Dier and Tanganga imo so in that sense nothing has really changed apart from he missed a penalty which we know isn’t what he’s paid to do.
Yeah fair point. I guess with fuck all competitions to worry about I'd rather just get some money for him now, sign a better 3rd choice in the next few days and then gamble on not needing the 4th choice too much.

Can always buy in Jan if we're desperate.

No it isn't, penalty taking takes technical ability among mental strength. These are not his qualities. There's nothing wrong with that as he's a centre back. It's far from just a coin flip otherwise why even bother picking takers at all? If it were, you would just pull them out of a hat as the fairest selection.

Now it's not his fault it went to penalties. We were so very poor tonight and he himself was poor also. It was a team loss tonight and we should have done better. He does deserve criticism for a poor decision to take a penalty though.
It wasn't the worst penalty I've ever seen

1. It was on target
2. It was close to the corner and low albeit not hit with nearly enough venom.

There were at least 3 Fulham penalties which were far worse, just Forster chose to dive the wrong way every time.

Yea could use Dorrington and Phillips as 4th choice until Jan I suppose

I'm not going to be annoyed at him for missing a penalty, at least he had the balls to take one. He is so appalling on the ball though, he made several really awfully misplaced passes tonight that put us in trouble I was shouting at the TV. Yes he has pace and can be ok at the back but his passing is woeful.

They weren't poor, they watched the keeper and then tapped in the opposite side. It's a totally different approach to Sanchez. His penalty was too soft and had no conviction for the approach he took.

A lot of his passes were behind Manor Solomon, he kept having to run back to keep the ball in, and then was facing the wrong way with multiple opponents near him. I felt sorry for Manor.

Mentioned this a week or two back. Yes it's great that he has the recovery pace to play in a high line however not being able to take care of the ball in a high line is a real issue. Add that to the fact he can't carry the ball forward and beat an oppo player like VDV and Romero do it starts becoming a major headache.

Watch again:

Apart from Pereira with his stupid run up, most of the other pens, Forster dived at the point of kicking. He guessed wrong is all. Rodak guessed right. If Forster had dived the right way for 3 of those Fulham pens he saves them.

Has he got a decent pen record? Couldn't remember.

He made some good saves during the game but during the shoot-out I've never seen him look so old. Was like we had a 60 year old in net.

Apparently he has good record, but he's ageing.

Hopefully that is his last kick in a spurs shirt

Absolute car crash of a player

Whoever scouted abd recommended him to levy should never have a job in football again

They see him dive as they strike and pass instead. Thats the technique, as you run up to strike and see the keeper moving as you switch to sidefoot the other side. Thats why they often are pretty central with those ones rather than aimed to the bottom corner. Its tricky to pull off but they did it well. Sanchez telegraph's his side footed effort and plays what is really a safe effort. You side foot towards the bottom corner when you're less confident and hope the keeper guesses wrong. They're different approaches.

That's rubbish. Watch Palhinha's pen. It's no different to Sanchez's except the keeper guessed right. Or Tete - both are not even looking at the keeper, they're focusing on the ball. The only two that watch the keeper are Pereira and Jimenez.

He should really be sold, but the problem we have is, Dier is still here.

So for that reason I think he stays, as I can’t see us bringing in two more CB’s.

Even before the taker kicked it

I think it’s best for all that Dav goes..

All I can think of coming into this thread post-game vs. pre-game is the "Boy, this party really died" scene in Dumb and Dumber.

I think it was always going to come crashing down and while he may be the best of our 3 CBs that need replacing, the fact is we need to replace them all; like with a lot of the rest of our deadwood, we need to get the permament moves we can, loans if we need to for others, and then hopefully we have a deal or two lined up to plug the hole(s). But, we've got to move on from a boatload of players.
