If they give him a new contract it just be…
If the contract says

Squad role- back up option
Wage- large decrease

then fine, anything other than that is a decision made by someone that doesn’t have a clue about football

If it guarantees he plays every game and doubles his money he still won't sign it and I won't blame him to be fair.

He would've been well within his rights to give up after last week. Him coming in and settling things down is a mark that he's a better bloke than the shithouses that were jeering him last week.

Disagree. Waddle called it right today: Sanchez is a professional athlete and he has to ignore the booing and get on with it. That’s his job. What fans do and say is just noise to be ignored.

Easy to say but when it's your own fans booing you specifically, thousands and thousands of people who have decided you being there is a problem, that's got to be difficult to get past.

The point of this is?
Petty sniping yet again.
Yes, big Dave isn't good enough and yes, he should also leave but the abuse so many of our players have got this season is shameful.
There's hardly one player in our squad that hasn't been slagged off at one time, mostly completely unfairly too, like Skipp being called Sunday league level FFS.

It's the age of social media where everyone can anonymously act like an arse without consequences.

Small chink of light on Dav...he had that humiliation a month or two back where his subbing was cheered to the rafters .

Next match he played, a few games later , his concentration seemed so much better and he was a MoM contender. The anger at his humiliation
got him back to his best, for a match at least.

One of the weirder developments in a player.

He started off being really good. I guess it was all just Jan & Toby shepherding him along? But he was genuinely really good for probably his first 2-3 years here and then fell off a cliff under Mourinho and it's been just getting worse.

I don’t think he did start off well, he just had Toby and Jan either side of him, he wasn’t bad he wasn’t not good

Can't agree with this, he was really really promising in his first few seasons under Poch. Doesn't matter who was next to him, he looked like he was a good buy and could do great things.

Tbh I think he was a 6 out of 10
Also we had Dier and vic in midfield with Dembele, it was a good team to step in to.

Thought he was unbelievable against England though

In 2017/18 (his first season) we had the 3rd best defensive record in the PL and Dave started 29 times. Wanyama started 8 in the PL that season. Dembele started 21. Outside of Jan's 36 starts and Dier's 32, the defense/midfield was a pretty heavily rotated side and he more than held his own.

He was also extremely important in 18/19, with the same amount of starts in PL/CL as Jan. Toby was the model of consistency on that team.

I get he's regressed, but I hate when people can't give credit where it's due.
