He’s a really good defender. On the ball however it’s woeful.
Not so sure about the “really” bit but totally agree with the second sentence.
It’s not just his touch or his passing that’s found wanting, his first time clearances seem to find the opposition more often than not.

Gets a lot of undue stick, no he isn’t as good as Romero, few are. He is a very capable defender though and in this set up I don’t worry about him playing.

Made tonnes of vital blocks and tackles today.

He does give the ball away cheaply, it stifled us in the first half. It wasn’t just him however Dier was woeful with his passing first half.

None of our back line did well in this regard today, they’ll have better games.

I like the balance of the physical Sanchez in for Romero and the ball carrying Lenglet and Davies. We're a Dier type short of the ideal 6.

Decent defender, capable of lapses in concentration. Aside from his lack of ability on the ball, I do think he could be a little more aggressive.

Personally though, I think our entire team didn't adjust well to the Wolves shape in the first half. Wingbacks and wingers didn't seem to know who to pick up at times and it did leave us vulnerable. Sanchez did get left exposed at times but still did well.

He's not as great as Romero but he's definitely a solid defender. I want my defenders to be able to do their main job first and foremost. His ball playing does let him down, but that I can overlook for being defensively solid.

Still can't read the flight of a ball. If he's running toward goal with an opposition player for a dropping ball he aint winning it. Loses those 50/50s almost everytine, and did it again today.
Played ok on the whole but he's still an accident waiting to happen.
We can get better than him.
All his frailties are still there imo.

I like that he's 26 yo (playing in a position that doesn't peak until late 20s/early 30s) and on his 4th manager with us (2 of which were shambolic) and people are writing him off.

I'll weigh his time under Conte heavier into consideration of his potential more than his time under Jose and Nuno. (what a mess of a sentence that is. me speak english?)
Potential. FFS

We won the game and he helped us get another clean sheet. Doesn't need more analysis than that

Does it surprise anyone else when you realise Davinson has been at the club for five years already?

Dude's really stepped up to a new level since Jose left. I don't like to heap blame on him for poor form, but there are some players who were obviously not in a good place with him at the wheel.

Onwards and upwards, Senor Sanchez
