I hear what you're saying, he's given his all on the pitch and deserves respect and admiration for that, but at the same time his repeatedly slagging off the club in the press is arguably crossing the line of what is acceptable. Especially the Google interview, which was outright disrespectful of his teammates and seemed to contribute to the beginnings of a negative atmosphere around the club. Not to mention very likely being the source of an anti-Jose article at a time when the club needs to be pulling together.

He deserves our respect for what he's done on the pitch but off the pitch is a completely different story and I can understand the frustration toward him.

My point is, how can you expect anybody to say nice things about a club when he was constantly getting abuse when pulling on a shirt. I’m very sure the abuse came before the derogatory comments about the club were made by Danny. It’s like anything in life, if you feel harshly treated, the majority of people will be resentful and behave according.

I have missed 6 games in 10 years and I can honestly say I have never witnessed any abuse from us fans at games. It’s a load of bollocks.

So many on here are jumping to poor Danny’s defence from their keyboards.

I have been there through thick and thin, singing his name over 5000 times (admittedly his song repeats a lot!).

I support his fight against his mental health problems. But never ever will I accept that as a reason for the way he went to the media, and the timing of his decision. It was calculated.

Bring on the spam and doh ratings, I couldn’t care less. The people defending what he did obviously haven’t spent the time and money I have supporting him throughout.

If he reads forums rather than listening to fans singing his name at games (even AFTER his outburst) - that’s his own fucking problem.

Remember when Poch first joined us and the clear out of the deadwood begun? Adebayor, Capoue, etc.? Starting to feel a little bit like it's happening again (to a lesser extent given CE & DR weren't nearly as bad as the previous examples) and I for one couldn't be happier about it. Couple that with the signings of Bergwijn & GLC, definitely feels like the rebuild has begun. Onward!

Wonderful player for us when healthy and in form, played as hard as anyone I can remember.

Hope he finds happiness and peace in both football and life.

I dont disagree to an extent......

Whenever Danny played, i always expected hin to give away free kicks around the area or a penalty. He had a habit of his arms flailng around players or running into players, in and around the box. My other point was when we had rose and walker playing we had such pace, but neither of them had very good end product

For a time Danny was one of my very favourite player in the squad. He was a heart and soul type player that had ample amount of ability an intelligence to go along with it. Him and Walker together were the two most dominant fullbacks of the past decade in English football.

And while we were on the brink of unfathomable glory under poch he had to open his thick yorkshire gob and show to the entire world that our squad wasn't united and ultimately didnt have the self belief in themselves or the club to complete the journey and win us glory.

It was the beginning of the end, and with his and Eriksen's departures this week, solidifies the horrible feelings of unfulfilled potential that these two legends of the club leave trophyless. Both of their reputations unnecessarily tarnished.

Danny who once was the very centre of the vibrant revival under Poch, now nothing more than a washed up pain in the arse.

Good luck Danny with the rest of the career and in life, it should have been so much better.

I have to say, in my eyes, some supporters have treated Danny appalling. In Poch's first season I remember him coming over to clap the away fans at villa. He got absolute dogs abuse by a hell of a lot of fans; really disgusting stuff and he looked genuinely upset. There were numerous times he would get called out and berated when he was far from the worst player on the pitch. If you treat a human being like that, you can never expect loyalty - it sticks with you.

He is clearly an emotional person and was probably more affected by the abuse he received than others would be. I can understand his lack of affection for the club having witnessed first hand the abuse he took. These guys aren't robots and loyalty to the club needs to be built, it never was in Danny's case.

Good luck to the lad and I hope he finds some happiness.

I don’t think Spurs fans ever ‘abused’ him & I find this claim just ridiculous.
Yes , some fans did not like him being given 5 years contract when Poch came in. They took to Twitter calling out why he was given contract - IMO during that time that was a valid question. Rose has been in club 4 yrs before & except for a good Sunderland loan we didn’t know what’s his true position was.
But once fans saw what Poch was doing with him & Rose playing well , fans in no time took to him, praising him , singing his name...
Few years later , Rose goes out to media calling the fans out for this episode. Fair enough. Football is fickle- fans or player.

My problem with Danny is him ratting out to Sun his personal problem disguised as teams problem. This time around Lloris &Toby spoke out it’s just a individual talking about a thing which didn’t happen.
All in all a great player to club but some one cold & hard to understand , doing his own thing.
I wish him all the best - hope he sticks to what he knows the best - playing football

Good luck Danny just try and remember the good times , has he ever been really happy down south especially when he talked about his mum and moving back north.
So that leaves us with Serge, Ben , Ryan and it looks like Japhet as a versatile utility player in the full back positions, not sure Jose rates Juan to step in after his poor performance against Norwich away and Jan now just getting too slow for stepping in at left back.
Jose likes Dennis Cirkin a lot but not 18 yet so maybe see more of him next season.

And he's slagged off the fans in public too, yet people still lap up his crap. Sick of him to be honest and glad he's gone.

I've never been disappointed to see his name on the team sheet. I admired the feistiness and thought it delivered it a much more commanding way than, say, Alli's. However, it's not a surprise to see him going - albeit on loan - and I don't expect to see him play for us again. Good luck Danny, hope you make the England squad.

Sad to see him go, if infact he does go.

He was a real flyer and fighter at left back. Bite, tenacity, energy and effort. The feelings, in general, when he signed that new contract years ago was a bit gloomy, but Poch knew. The transformation of the player was quite incredible...then he got that injury and it all fell apart for him. Such a shame.

He clearly has some issues inside his head and I sincerely hope that his move helps him overcome them.

Good luck to him, he served us well.

in a way, Danny Rose turn upward turn of form followed by drop off is in line with the team overall. We know he could play to a better level the last few months but rarely managed it other than little glimpses.

A fresh start and new environment is probably best for all concerned.

He had max 18 months when he was really good, and 6 months of that he was injured.

He, like so many, dropped off after 2016.

but unlike others, when due to confidence you’re playing above your capabilities the fall is even harder when said confidence dwindles. At least for some of our other players, a drop in form is recoverable eg Alli, Son, Alderweireld etc
