If memory serves me right I remember some rumbles about Aurier playing left back at the time because of his pace so it would nullify Liverpool and Salahs counter attack.

Was Davies & Rose injured or not available at the time? I honestly can't remember but I do recall talk of Aurier being best pace wise to square up to Salah on our left hand side
Rose was injured and having checked the fixtures around that time Davies wasn't in the squad the weekend before that Liverpool game either so he must have been out too, Verts was LB home to Bournemouth. So it appears to have been a toss-up between Verts or Aurier vs. Salah and the right choice in that circumstance was made.

Sorry to bump this but with the little bit of ITK from HY and not wanting to play guessing games in the ITK thread, could it be Rose out and (enter players name here) in?

I see the club have made it official after VY info yesterday that Danny Rose is up for sale, along with Toby as we expected and Dembele

Rose leaving wouldn't upset me. Since his injury and his "Issues" last year, he's never been the same to me. He's missing that dynamism and spark that set him apart from the rest. It could be a fitness thing, but to my eyes it's something else.

Shame really, as he was absolutely one of my fave players for a few years.

Why do you see the SkySports article as the club "making it official"?. At one point it seemed Lyall was one the club would provide information they wanted out too but these days it seems they'd rather drop stories they want out there to the core group of beat reporters and Lyall occasionally gets some but mostly just compiles others stories and comes up with something himself.

put 2 + 2 together with ITK yesterday

plus it's been out for a few hours and by now the club would of denied it

He's been here a long time, while struggling with depression. A fresh start could be beneficial, and we could benefit from some fresh blood too. Think Rose sale financing a Kieran Tierney signing would be a good deal for us - don't see Rose as a 50m player anymore sadly. 30m would be good

Will need to replace him if he goes. Not much time for that is there?

Shaw, Bertrand? The alternatives aren't wonderful

Unfortunately, Tierney isn't HG so can't see any chance of it. Shame, though.

Hasn't Aurier played on the left for us?

A hell of a lot better than the interview he gave before the start of the season this time last year
Funny thing last summer was that he gave that interview when most fans knew Sanchez, Aurier (known names) were imminent in the coming days. Then Llorente, a highly respected player followed.
