The 3atb suits him so well. Not to say he can't also be great in a 4, but he'd need to paired with someone much better at recovery defending than Dier whilst retaining Dier's aerial ability and ball playing. I.e they'd cost a fortune. Hopefully Conte stays but one reason I'd want Potter if he goes is that it is likely we would be able to see Cuti continue at RCB in a 3atb.

Had no right to win any of the two tackles for the goal. That desire and fight is fantastic, love him

That's different commentary to whoever was on the perfectly legitimate stream I watched.

"Big tackle Romero. Oh and he goes flying in again, and wins it" ?

Put another top defender along side him and we will be set for a long time

Again (sorry everyone for taking over the thread) but he's got a top defender alongside him already.

We could bring in the next Beckenbauer, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll play well alongside Romero.

For all the limitations that some on here place upon Dier, Romero speaks his language, on and off the pitch.

You can't buy these types of understanding, they just happen..

You're right, in respect that we absolutely need better options in defence. But, for him personally, he's got a top defender alongside him.

Gonna politely disagree slightly bud.

Yeah we need to upgrade some of our defensive options. But I think he's clearly already built up quite an understanding with Dier. And he's made it clear that Dier has helped him to settle, by being able to communicate in his native language.

And for all the stick he gets/has taken. Davies isn't lacking in football intelligence.

I personally have no issue with Rodon, but there's clearly something amiss that we're not seeing/understanding with him. And Sanchez simply can't play/perform without a babysitter to hold his hand.

If we could replace those last 2 with someone of similar intelligence, and add effective WBs to the equation. We really could be onto something.

The only 'problem' imo is that Davies is the only natural LCB we have and when he's out we struggle. We really need a rotation option (preferably someone better). He's certainly been a whole load better at LCB than I ever thought he would.

Anyone else remember Pat Van Den Hauwe doing similar for us?
Nope. Nobody does. I was thinking it might have actually been Jason Cundy, and I've just seen an earlier post referencing it.

As you were.

Who do we reckon he's going to kill on Thursday night?

I can see him toying with Xhaka for a little bit. So easy to get a reaction from that ****.

Do Martinelli & Gabriel feature much for them? We know Romero won't need asking twice to gently slow down any South American that isn't Argentinian.

I am excite!

Would think PEH and he could do a job on Xhakas head early on.

Not that I watch many games other than Spurs these days but I keep an eye on team selection for FPL., Martinelli and Gabriel both started their last game. Would expect Gabriel to start anyway on Thursday. Not sure on Martinelli.

They both start every game they’re fit.
