What if Eriksen does not sign, RM do not bid on him, we sign ND and LC, do we let Eriksen go play golf for 6moths to a year rather than play him ?
Or can he actually buy out the last year of his contract ?

That sounds like a scenario Levy would never let happen, from buying both of those players with no money coming in, through to letting an asset sit around doing nothing for 6 months.

We absolutely have to get a fee for him, it would be catastrophic for him to walk free.
I think it depends if we add players like Lo Celso and keep Eriksen then go on to win the league or Champions League next season, then the loss of his £60m fee would be insignificant. The commercial opportunities would be huge, as seen in the last few season you just need to put yourself in the shakeup because it could be argued with just s little more investment we could have been League and European Champions in the last three seasons.

Linked to Dani Ceballos in Spanish media again. Get it done for Ceballos + cash (to buy Lo Celso). Eriksen gets his dream move and our squad is still looking strong for next season.

Yeah this situation is getting critical - can't let Eriksen run down his contract. Levy will be hating missing out on some cash, and to be financially prudent as a club we can't allow it to happen in any case.

If Real say no to him i could see a situation where Levy starts getting the likes of Man U involved - even if it means he stays in the Prem. Obviously, the issue there is that Eriksen will probably not want to go there.

We can’t allow that to happen. Even if we have to accept a reduced fee from Madrid.

If Eriksen has said Madrid or Barca only, he’s unlikely to move elsewhere & sign a contract with them. That’s Zaha-esque stupidity in tying yourself down to somewhere you don’t want to be.

Yeah I agree, but things can change. If a deal can’t be done with Madrid at the money we want and another PL become involved his feeling could change. He may feel he just wants a change of scene. We don’t know.

If that does happen, imo we have to do everything in our power to keep him from a rival. Even if it hurts us in the pocket a bit.

The difference is that RM (or ZZ) wants Bale out. I don’t think Poch or Levy wants CE to leave so why should they let him play golf for the remaining year of his contract when they use his footballing services?

Reading recent posts here, it almost feels like CE is an ungrateful, disloyal, prima donna and allround greedy asshole. All based on... speculations and no facts. Trump era is upon us. Awesome times :p

£40m and Ceballos would work for me at this point. Especially if he has absolutely no intention of signing up if Madrid dont approach. Shame as he and Ndombele could've really complimented each others games.

To me it seems everything around Eriksen has cooled down. But then again it early days still.

I hope he stays.

Absolutely. Going to be a huge loss despite others trying to downplay it.

I just can’t see it though. We are linked too strongly to other midfielders for me to think otherwise. And the Pogba to Madrid links seem to have gone quiet and no doubt Eriksen will be cheaper due to his contract situation. Even though he and Pogba are different types of players.

Oh, I agree. It seems inevitable with the number of incomings touted. Also think it could potentially be a positive if Poch, Levy and co are as smart as I think they are, but there's a massive fingers crossed there as always. Still hope he stays though. He's a much loved part of the furniture.

Would also be nice to see what he could do with probably the greater freedom he’d have having Ndombele in our midfield.

It's an interesting one. I think NDombele will open the field up for the lads and Eriksen would benefit. Not sure if it's too late or we get someone fresh in

We were so painfully slow transitioning the ball from defense to attack this year. Ndombele speeds up that link meaning he could feed Eriksen earlier between the lines meaning the defense isn't set for Son, Kane & Dele making runs.
