Player watch: Christian Eriksen

You could clearly see today that Eriksen makes the players around him better. It's no wonder that Sissoko, Ndombele, Kane, Lamela all started playing the ball faster and taking runs when he came on. He just makes us tick.

Everytime Eriksen strikes the ball he does it with a purpose and then he swiftly takes a new position to receive it. It's a special trait and it's why we look so clueless without him. It's like everyone is just waiting for someone else to do what Eriksen does.

I really hope he has second thoughts and stays. Understand someone wanting a change of scenery and lifestyle but at the moment I wish he could open his eyes and realise that only one side really want him and that is us. Madrid aren’t interested mate.

Just offer him a contract with a pay raise and clause where he can leave for the spanish giants for 50-60m.

Well, he is under contract and we do not have to sell if we don't want. We didn't bring in a replacement, therefore we need him to fulfill his contact, at least until Jan. Would like him to commit, but if his heart is set on moving to a Real or Athleti or Juve or Barca, so be it. But he needs to understand that he may not be the player any of them want. Maybe next summer that will change. But it would be nice for him to sign a two year extension, with a provision, that should one of those four come in next summer, that he has a reasonable release clause (50-60m). That would seem like a favorable option for everyone involved.

Si vital for us and made Kane look three times as good. Worrying thoug that Eriksen, Toby and now it seems Jan are unsettled. Lose those three and we are in trouble.

I know we have players missing but today makes me scared for if he goes. I was one who wanted him gone recently just because he doesn't want to be here and so we can get someone who does want to be, now I just think I'd love nothing more than to see him sign a new contract.

Brilliant chat between redknapp and Rafa post match regarding the importance of CE.
I’ve gone right off him recently but he was the player that made the difference today.
If the move to Madrid doesn’t materialise, than we have to get him to sign on again.
We need as much quality as possible out there and in the squad.
Right, Over to the Jan thread to find out what happened there

I'm hoping it's just that he's still got some minuscule hope of RM coming in before their deadline and that he will sign for us if it doesn't materialise by September. There's no way he's going to extend until September anyway.

I know we've been told that Eriksen wants to play for Madrid but what if that's just an excuse. What if it really is about the money? Let's not forget that there's been a lot of talk over the last few years about the fact that our players aren't paid what what they're worth.

Hard for me to think it is just the money at this point, unless you are saying he wants 300 a week.

He's rumoured to earn about £75k a week isn't he? I'm not altogether sure but if we're not at least offering him parity with Kane, I could see why he's not that keen on staying.

I would agree with that, but it is hard for me to think that Levy doesn’t think the same. If he doesn’t, then yes, That’s on us.

He supposedly has a 200k/week contract on the table. All the reports say it’s not about money but that he wants a different challenge and to move to the continent. Let’s not over complicate this.

Hopefully the move won’t materialize and he’ll reconsider, but I think we’ve done as much as we can to keep him.

I like these comments from Kane and it is what we all see.

'When he [Eriksen] came on he dictated the pace and it was perfect. I can make my movements off that.'

I know what you're saying but I doubt there's many footballers that are going to come right out and say it's about money. It's not a good look so they end up saying something like their ambitions lie elsewhere.
