I'm thinking back to the ITK on Ceballos and the phrase was used 'we won't fatten someone else's cow'. I wonder if this applies to Eriksen in that, if he won't sign a contract he's obviously off to become somebody else's cow. Maybe he'll be punted to the U23s for the season or spend every week on the bench. Just a thought, but something I did mention weeks ago as a possibility.

It sounds like he just wants to experience a different league and way of life, not much we can do if that is the case
I'm not sure. Obviously just a hunch but I just think he wants to win trophies and win them the right way with attractive football. Up until now we've never had the squad good enough to do that.

I reckon he was disillusioned with last season, as we didn't sign a single player and Poch had to adapt our style accordingly. We definitely seemed to play direct and lump it long a bit more, particularly when Llorente was around. That's not his game and I always got the impression he was fed up of having to drop deep to collect the ball too. He must surely recognise that Lo Celso and Ndombele will help him a lot.

I can understand where you are coming from, but let's say he starts, hits top form, moral is up, and he is happy again, he would have more incentive to sign the contract, right? Having him on the bench all the time will just cause more turmoil.

I suppose your right if it effects the rest of the team, but I just couldn’t stand him being a guaranteed starter without signing a deal and then leaves us in summer for nothing.

He needs to have a good honest chat with Poch/levy and let us know what he’s going to do.

Hopefully that is the case, we'll find out soon enough anyhow

I can't see Real Madrid coming in for him. They already have Isco and Cabellos for the future. He's also not a galactico type of player really. I just don't think Real are all that convinced by him. He just seems like a fallback option most.

I’m pretty confident with Eriksen we would beat Real Madrid in a tie in the UCL right now.

It’s absurd how good we would be if he would stick around. Better than the 16/17 team for, IMO.
If he stays we have one of the best midfields/attack in Europe

With GLC and TN signed up, I can see Eriksen putting up some absurd numbers this season. Which would sting more if he were to leave for free. Hopefully us winning a couple trophies can lessen that pain or help change his mind.

DL will definitely not allow this to rumble on till Jan....

Although to some extent, not totally in his control, right? I mean, if Eriksen doesn’t agree to move anywhere we could actually sell him, we can’t force him too.

Hopefully he just buckles down, realizes that RM are jerks and re-signs.

Think he’ll sit in and see how the window goes, if nobody comes in with an offer which the club like, that he’s d be prepared to go to, he may well get his head down and sign a new deal with a release clause in which suits both us and him.
If he was solely our for money, he’d have pushed for the United move, but he allegedly turned it down, so it is about football and experiencing different culture etc.
As such, I think he’ll stay and sign up for bit. 12 months at his current wage, then a free, or 12 months on a vastly increased wage with a sensible release clause to team(s) of his choice.

Not sure that's true, there is still nothing to suggest he was really interested in joining anyone outside of Real.

From what I hear his strop seems to be over. I'm guessing it was down to frustration and not knowing what was happening Madrid have really fucked him about tbh.

He will however need to sit down and sign a new deal otherwise we will look to sell if we can find a buyer. It's just too much money to let him walk away on a free.
As long as he is still on good terms with Poch, there is little risk in offering him a new contract with some bonuses and a reasonable Real/Barca release clause. If tha'ts genuinely the move he wants, I think it will get done.

This may well be bullshit ( and maybe one of the ITK’s can shed some light), but one of the things I read was that he had an agreement with Levy that he wouldn’t sign for another English club.

Doesn’t really sound right though if we allowed him to speak to Utd.

Wage structure be damned. Pay him whatever it takes. Pay him enough to live in Madrid and jet in for training.

It could be just as damaging financially to sell Eriksen now as letting him leave on a free next year. The race for the CL is going to be very close this year imo.
