He was never going to go to Man Utd. Bet he leaves on a free now. Hope that won’t fuck our window up.

I do have a feeling the media are well behind on this one though. We’d of known straight away whether he’d accept a move there. In fact we may have known for months.

It's not about the price. Eriksen just doesn't want to go to Utd.
He'll be off to Spain, just a case of whether it's for free or not.
Glad he ain't going to Utd, but fear he's causing a problem with incomings.

If I were a foreign club i'd be waiting as late as possible (their deadline, not ours) to lower the price. My worry is how this may impact moves for GLC, Dybala and the rest. We'll need to bite the bullet and get those in and hope we can shift Eriksen after our window closes. Whether that's something we're willing to do however...

I think deep down we all know the answer to that....

It’s a real shame it’s cone to this, Eriksen is a top player and has done so much/still does so much for the team.

If and it’s a big if we can’t convince him to stay then I will always have fond memories of the player and thank him for his time putting the club on the top table

If you take out the ITK and only look at the public comments he has been honest and said he wants a new challenge. The club have been caught out last minute with the value we wanted for the player and this is the bit that is sickening as a spurs fan

Hope it all works out for all sides to be happy at the end of the transfer window

I wonder what Levy does now? Invest his own 50 ml in Dybala or Lo Celso or jeopardise the whole season without a new player and stuck with unmotivated Eriksen?

Of course. The news about Dybala has been the highlight of the honeymoon!

Not the combination look your wife gave you which was equal parts disappointment and realisation that this is what she's permanently signed up for?

I reckon he will go to Madrid after our market shuts as Man U probably won't let Pogba go if they can't replace him.

If we were to get one of Dybala, Coutinho or Lo Celso, Eriksen could find himself in an awkward spot if he doesn't move now. We would presumably not want to play him over our new acquisitions and we'd have no reason to publicise his ability for him to walk out for nothing. He could even be completely sidelined for the season. It's a situation he seems to have created for himself but the plain fact is that the clubs he thought would be in for him haven't shown the slightest interest. Could be a forgotten man in 12 months.

He’s still got 3 weeks to flog him to Europe. I’m sure there will be lots of ways a deal can be done with someone to make all parties happy.

We need to push ahead with the other signings now, we’ve no choice really.

Herc was crystal clear yesterday that the club will sell him to MU. I´m thinking that this was true - in the meaning that we were (are?) willing to sell Eriksen to MU.

But, as I and several others have questioned: why would he go there? It´s a move that doesn´t really make any sense on so many different levels from Eriksen´s perspective. I suspect, as has been quoted by many as the reason for MU´s ended interest in him, that he simply has refused to go to MU - which is his right.

If it is true that MU now has ended their interest in him, I´m happy with that. I never want us to sell our best players to our rivals in the PL. Yes we get premium money compared to prices we might get from European clubs (except RM/Barca). But at the same tim ewe make it harder for ourselves to grab the all-important top 4/CL-spot. Which in any case is of much more value than a possible difference of 10-20-30 million by selling him to an European club after the English TW closes.

As a thought experiment: if Eriksen helps MU reach CL in the next 5 years, while we miss out for two years in the same period, that would be a financial loss in the magnitude of several hundred millions of pounds. In short: we´d be better off paying him his wages for one year (= approx 4-5 millions) and let him go for free to Europe next summer, than to sell him to MU for £80M now.

So you’re prepared to lose him for free snd only sign Sessegnon? Okay then

That’s not how we operate. We wont buy based off speculatively selling eriksen in 3 weeks. Eriksen needs to go now for us to buy tomorrow. This could be a situation where the early deadline kills us. Either that or we lose Eriksen on a free

I agree historically that’s how we have operated and I always go off how we’ve acted in the past, but we haven’t faced this type of scenario before. We need to be ahead of it for once.

The bit you don't address is, if they don't sign Eriksen, who else might they sign within their budget who could be just as good, maybe even better than Eriksen. If they're after a top drawer midfielder they'll get one.

I don't see him playing under Poch very much at all. We hold that card, he should go for his sake.
Edit: If we get the suggested players in that is.
