I really don't like the idea of him going to Utd. I accepted his statement but a move to Utd completely goes against that. Proper dick move at what is a pivotal window for us. We should have been making real progress and he's messed the whole window up. He'd be a great signing for them too which would make things even worse.
To be honest with you as fantastic as he is, I'd be worried about him staying with us even if his move doesn't materialise. Plenty of players have gone on downward spirals after not getting their big money move and Eriksen does appear to be affected by this.

No matter how professional he has been, would he really be able to reenergise his ambition with us?

That's why, as things stand, I want him out and two in. Therefore, I'm not fussed where he goes.

.....having said that I don't know if I trust the club to bring in the two players capable of replacing him.

I totally agree with that, does feel like bridges have burned. I'd just much rather us shift him to either Madrid for £10-15m less if possible.

I'm with you. As long as we get a good fee for him and replace him, I don't think we should be in a position to be fussy.

Sure, I'd prefer it if he went abroad, but at this point, I'm more concerned about us getting the cash in and redeploying it. If that means going to Utd, then so be it.

The fee would allow us to get a good replacement - an entire Lo Celso, BF or most of a Dybala (leaving aside wages etc.). We have to take that on the chin

You'd have to think United would be absolute last case scenario. And to be fair if it's 50m or nothing for him next year, it's worth it to take the money even it strengthens a competitor.

Will he play at the weekend if he's still here seeing we are short of players and desperately need him. Maybe in the bench.

Need him if he’s still here.. only have Lamela Kane lucas Erisken then Parrot and GKN as our available ATT players

From United & Madrid perspective....United will only look to sell Pogba at a higher valuation. Pogba also of late isn't playing in preseason - seems he is really pushing for the move. Seems Madrid has both us & United by the balls.

Madrid in mean time has negotiated for Van De Beek for 50m. They have to come up with the cash for 1 player (Pogba) or 2 player (Van de Beek , Eriksen). They have James & Mariano for sale.

In this, we seem to be the desperate ones. We got to do nothing but wait

In modern football it’s hard to find loyalty. I think Eriksen has played fair. His only downfall has been comments in a single interview where he felt he just needed a new challenge. We’re never gonna like it when one of our top players feels like moving from us. Kinda hurts when our eyes can’t see why he’d want to join anyone else. I guess he’s fallen foul of big club games. Was led to believe he’d get a move to Real. ZZ turns up and everything changes. I really don’t blame CE. At times he’s sublime to watch, despite what some on here say, he does really put in a shift. Even if last season wasn’t great, my memories of him will be a player who’s served us well. He does need to go because that edge and passion for spurs has clearly gone. Under Poch, anything less will not work. So I hope he does go and it enables us to secure GLC and BF.

Yeah, but if he joins United, its complete utter bollocks and the loyalty angle is ridiculous.

In reality, it feels like he either goes to (a) Real (b) Utd or (c) a third party who, to date, have had no seeming prior interest

So it may well be a last case scenario

Totally agree. Whilst selling him to Utd would be a better deal for the club, I'd genuinely have more respect for Eriksen if he stayed and left on a free. Don't say you only want to leave if a better offer comes up, then leave to join a team in the Europa with a placeholder manager.

It's bizarre how many are upset about Eriksen running his contract down. He agreed to a 5 year deal and have been nothing but a professional and a key player for this entire period.

If he don't renew his deal that's his choice. Maybe he want no experience a new town, culture, challenge, people or whatever.

Why tie himself down like Zaha and making it that much harder for himself? He owe us nothing.

Completely agree. It does seem like he has said he wanted to sign a new contract at at least one point this summer according to ITK. If that is the case and we are now scrambling to replace him then we can feel a little let down.

Maybe we try and flog him to United for a premium fee since there is no other takers?

It's much better for us as a club to get top money for him to replace him than him walking for free next year, even if it's to United.

I can totally see why the club would do it. I just don't like it. Plus strengthening them is still a threat to us getting CL and winning trophies.

Given the huge negativity toward Eriksen over the past year on this site, I’d have thought most of you would be delighted to see us flog him to Utd for a tidy sum while weakening them...

I actually think that this thread proves peoples general disdain for Eriksen, if anything. Apart from a few posters, the majority seem very relaxed and happy about selling one of the most creative players in the league and the only man who makes us tick, to a direct rival that desperately needs a number 10.

Money and all that, I know. But other teams have proved that isn't the only thing that matters recently.

Him going to United would fucking suck.

But I’m not convinced that’s something he’s interested in but likely something Levy is pushing.

That's why I'm not getting on the lose all respect wagon, I doubt he wants that move but may be being forced down that route as he won't commit on our terms.

What has really screwed us is the staggered closure of the EPL and European transfer windows, and nobody can blame Eriksen for that since it has all changed since he signed his contract. We have to second guess what will happen after our window closes and try to make the right call which is a real long shot, and potentially a bloody expensive one. The other thing is that we're under no obligation to let RM or anyone else talk to him which maybe explains why it's all so stagnant.
