I think Paratici had been monitoring him and took a chance on him becoming this elite dribbler who could cause total chaos for defences. Obviously not Messi level but that kind of player who can turn a game.

Sometimes those players you have to take a chance because the upside can be huge. And sometimes you may not even consider how they fit in to the system.

He was injured throughout pre season so Ange didn't get to take a look at him. He had to wait until he was fit to see how he does. Now he will get an idea of how he fits but he will need time. I think he's going to be here all season and then we'll assess in the summer. It's now or never for him here. I'd rather see more than the odd cameo though before making judgement. This style you would think will suit him but he needs to be in the first team getting more minutes to tell. Same for Lo Celso.

Lennon was also insanely quick off the mark i cant think of anyone faster he made bad passing look good.

Plus he was from a really rough area in leeds scouts would not go to watch him, due to where he lived.

Agree Jack is really well built his massive legs and arse!
Agree, comparisons to Lennon are silly imo, Lennon was absolutely rapid off the mark, one of the fastest over 5-20 yards in PL history, also football was different then it was more 4-4-2 skin your man and cross and there was much more space. Lennon was tough and super fast, quite a different type of player to Gil who is a lot more technical, typical Spanish style player.

Strangely enough I think he might be an option for us if we play Brennan, Son and Gil up front and bring Deki back into the number 10 role. No idea if it would work but it's possibly worth a shot.

Tbf he played Kulu in the 10 when we were chasing the game against Sheffield, but we had Perisic, Richarlison and Solomon fit at the time.

Think his reluctance recently has been we don't have many wide players left. If he deems Bryan Gil ready to make a significant impact then I don't think he'd be opposed. But I'm sure he'll look at GLC before putting Kulu there.

I get that people want to see him in more than a cameo but he does have to earn that right as much as the next player, if he isnt impressing on the training pitch he doesnt deserve to be put in because "who knows he might play well/get better".

Signing Soloman and Johnson in one window suggests the club dont really trust Gil as a likely long term option, but with Richarlison and Soloman are both injured at the moment if hes ever going to get a proper look in it will be now (unless we get more injuries but surely we've had our fair share for the moment!).

Soloman as an example is 18 months older, shorter according to wiki but looks a much more accomplished player in the cameos we've seen him in having only been here a few months.

I'll be furious if this doesn't happen now. It solves all our problems, even the ones in defence.

Thought he did ok today but had some really poor touches / passes at key times.
Unfortunately can't see him getting much change out of city's physically dominating defenders next week

He just isn't quick enough. Nice ability but can't get away from players and being weak as well it's hard to see how he's of much use.

He was good at collecting the ball on the halfway line, and even advancing play, but his crossing and final ball were poor.

Seemed too eager for me. A bit more composure and his Spanish flair may ooze out. Not sure if there are enough game time for him to find his feet though.
