The £40m shirt sponsorship deal announced today should help us entertain moves like this in the future if not now. Combined with the new Nike deal, the massive boost in matchday income from the stadium, ever-increasing PL and CL revenue as well as the pending naming rights we really are transitioning towards elite club status. Exciting times.

ITK said back in May that where we finished in the league would dictate targets this summer. Ndombele, the people we're now linked to, the shirt sponsorship, the whole thing could have been so different. This summer isn't just defining next season but seasons to come. Thank fuck we scraped top 4!

makes kinda sense the more you look at it really. juve want pogba as well as rm, pogba wants juve as well as rm. juve have already spent a ton of money so need to balance just as we do/would. this opens the door for a high-profile player to go, dybala. eriksen is rm's 2nd choice after pogba who then becomes available if pogba goes to juve.

if in any realms of possibility this is true......

dybala to us
pogba to juve using the dybala money
eriksen to rm as 2nd choice, esp following asensio's injury
juve balance their books somewhat, as do we, esp if lo celso comes
absolutely no-one to united :ROFLMAO:

Really don't think that's the case, Bale is on the best part of £600k/week while Dybala is reportedly on around £130k/week. I don't think we'll sign Dybala but I'd say it's far more realistic than Bale, especially if he has fallen out with the powers that be at Juve
Fallen out with Ronnie more like

I think the problem with this deal is that it's now heightened expectations big time, I think we were all very content with Lo Celso and Ndombele if Eriksen/Alder stayed put but now we've got perhaps a little unrealistic expectations of signing an extremely highly thought of talent.

I'm not sure about Dybala. I've been on a Juve forum and the general consensus is he was great as a young player with unbelievable potential but hasn't really stepped up in the last 2 seasons. At 25, he needs a break out season where he truly dominates games to be considered truly elite, as he's too old and experienced for the young player shtick.
I also garnered he's cack on the wing.

I wanted him just because everyone and his dog has heard of Dybala, but like most haven't seen much of him. I wanted the Dybala legend. This mythical beast that in my mind is amazing. The Game changer.
After reading their forums maybe keeping CE would be more advantageous. I just don't know

My expectations have never been met since that glorious day when Levy waddled down to Atletico Madrid with his wheelbarrow of cash and against all odds we signed Aguero.

The good old days...

When I say briefed, I mean briefed by Spurs to run with a story. Given we don’t usually do that, it smacks of wanting this to come out.

I know what you meant. I'm just saying that Tuttosport who are a Juventus linked publication were the ones who broke it first. My betting would be that Ally Gold and Dan P saw this tweet and asked the club about it, who were then briefed that it was indeed true? Maybe the club were hoping to keep it under wraps but when they realised some people were getting wind of it, maybe they thought it best to tell their "trusted" journo's the story. No idea, just guess work on my part.

It seems a little fishy to me I agree.

Although I don't see why a deal for Dybala couldn't be done. It's clear Poch would love him in the squad, there isn't a doubt about that, and 80 million isn't a ridiculous sum of money.

He is a tad bit overrated. He’s one of those players nearly everyone knows but people have seen so little of him other than CL nights and Youtube. His stats aren’t great but he passes the eye test and then some.

Its meant to put pressure on Betis, who have obviously not come down on their valuation for Lo Celso as we’re still about £20-25m apart on the fee.

Posted this on the front page but is anyone else concerned about his goals drying up last season compared to previous? Or did he play a different role?

From The Mirror.

Juventus star Paolo Dybala has reportedly 'said yes' to the prospect of a summer sale amid Premier League interest.

The Argentine attacker has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham but had previously been unwilling to consider leaving Turin.

He was said to be determined to fight for his place and prove he should be a leading figure in the plans of new manager Maurizio Sarri after struggling to make an impact last season following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo .

But according to Tuttosport , he held talks with Sarri after returning from a holiday after the end of the Copa America and his stance had changed.

He now accepts his future might lie elsewhere, and there could now be a scramble to secure his signature with the Premier League looking like a possible destination.

Dybala has changed his transfer stance and said he will consider leaving Juventus

According to the Mail, Tottenham have contacted Juventus over the 25-year-old.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also a big fan and is considering making a move if Paul Pogba or Romelu Lukaku depart.

Juventus are believed to be open to selling Dybala, provided they receive offers somewhere in their valuation bracket of £70m-£90m.

Spurs have already broken their club-record transfer deal by signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon this summer, but that could be topped in an ambitious move to bring in Dybala as support for Harry Kane.

Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be in the hunt for Dybala, who has scored 57 Serie A goals in 128 appearances since leaving Palermo to join Juventus in 2015.

He currently earns around £120,000-a-week and has a deal until 2022 with La Biaconeri.

However, he is set to insist on an "equally ambitious club" if he leaves Juventus, meaning Mauricio Pochettino and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have to convince him of their visions at their respective clubs.

In the current market 80 million seems a little low. I had a little look on a Juve forum and some of them seemed ok with selling him but only for 100+

If there's any chance, I assume it's because Juve are desperate for cash to sign Pogba/Icardi/Chiesa or whoever.

Dybala had a poor season and, though Sarri has said he can see him as a false 9, it's hard to see him getting consistent starts in a 4-3-3 featuring Ronny. Perhaps he's deemed expendable?

My gut tells me this is a classic fantasy transfer and we won't even get close, but the day a Spurs fan stops dreaming of unrealistic signings is the day he dies.

I've had this concern about him myself, whether he's one of these players that are over-rated because they are at a huge club and have one of the highest FIFA ratings. Will he be able to cope in the faster paced and more physical PL? Is he too much of a luxury player (Ozil/James style). That said I would counter this with two things:-

1) When a player is on the way out, fans tend to focus on the negatives (look at the Eriksen thread).
2) Many a top player has suffered due to teams being built around Ronaldo and his planet sized ego (e.g. Gareth Bale).

We'll he's definitely not overrated. Saw him live against Chile and he was outstanding, the best player in the pitch.

He may just need a change of scenery or a club more suited to his style.

He could be like a Bergkamp or Cantona in the prem I think.
