The first news of this came yesterday morning in Italy. How did all the supersleuths of SC miss it?!?!
It is worth noting that Spurs enquiring about Dybala was actually first broken by Italian based Journalist yesterday morning. So whilst you could say that Ally and Dan KP were briefed, you can't say the same about Tuttosport.
It’s a simple fact that we need another match winner, someone who can terrorise defences and both create and score 15 plus goals. Both Dybala and Bale fit the mould.
I think the comparison is a difficult one, if not impossible. Ossie was from a time when these signings just didn't happen, it was sensational in it's own right absolutely different and some might say it changed football. Klinsmann was during an era where football was much more global, on TV a lot more, it was all that bit more in the public awareness.
I think you could look at both as being sensational for their time, trying to decide which was the biggest signing is almost impossible. They were both, in their way and for their time, huge.
I know which one I'd go with, even though I said it was almost impossible to choose I'd side with Ossie & Ricky, just because of the effect it had on football. But I'd understand the Klinsmannites argument too
Yes but look at that team, it's awfully narrow and reportedly we're looking to sell rose and play the likes of foyth and Davies at fullback. You play that team without amazing fullbacks and you have absolutely no width which is near on useless against teams who want to sit back. There's a reason why pretty much every single one of the best teams on the planet play 4-3-3 rather than 4-3-1-2Average the past couple of years? Sure, maybe last year as he adjusted to Ronaldo in the team (although he still scored double figures in all comps, but the season before he hit 22 league goals as a second striker.
If pre-season is anythign to go by and Eriksen does leave, then something like this could absolutely work:
WinksHe could also fit in either of the positions further forward, Dele, Lamela and Lo Celso could all play in that 'number 10' role, and Lucas could fit in either of the two forward positions. There would be so many options, and with the two creative '8s' behind the font three, there would be less need for an Eriksen-type player to be the sole heartbeat of the team in possession, like he has been for so many years.
Ndombele - Lo Celso/Dele
Dybala
Kane - Son
@mill can you fucking not
Ha - I remain circumspect.
Didn’t think it was reversible. Doctors these days...So do I. Been the same since I was 8 days old .
We're looking for a way to be disappointed when we sign Lo Celso, that's all. We'll be like "oh crap, we signed Lo Celso, not Dybala".
I get that, but i think in reality it would be extremely fluid, with various players picking up positions out wide.Yes but look at that team, it's awfully narrow and reportedly we're looking to sell rose and play the likes of foyth and Davies at fullback. @mill can you link that dybala fallen out with you've stuff you mentioned in the ITK thread?
Okay. I should be asleep but I’ve gone full transfer window muppet so let’s go.
Without any outgoing, GLC and Dybala in would mean an overload of talent that I’m not even sure City could muster. I mean look at the following list FFS:
Kane. Son. Dybala. Moura. Dele. Eriksen. Lamela. GLC. Ndombele. Sissoko. Winks.
That is INSANE and I’ve left off players like Dier Wanyama, Skipp and Parrott as well you know.
Out of that list the odd one out to me is Dele to be honest. I love the kid but if ITK of a star being on the way out he is the player I’d be willing to sacrifice although who would he go to/would be willing to pay for him is another thing in of itself. More realistically, it would have to be Eriksen as he has actual suitors and has actually indicated his interest to leave.
