Is it only me who feels its perfectly realistic DM have just fabricated these quotes? Although would that not make them liable to being sued?

Erm, no. Papers might talk shit but that's the stories where they have no quotes - even the British press aren't stupid enough t make quotes up - they don't need to if they want to bullshit.

Seleção Brasileira @BrazilStats I think Paulinho quotes are probably fake. He cant go from saying I'm only concentrated on BRA to saying I dream of playing for THFC can he?

This caught my eye

‘There was a moment last season when he came to me because he was not comfortable out on the pitch,’ he went on.
‘I do not know if it was my response or that he was glad to relieve the stress, but after that he became confident and played with freedom.
I wonder why Bale didn't feel comfortable?

That's when Bale said he wasn't enjoying his football, they had a chat and his central role began.

Because he felt he was too restricted always playing on the left so they worked on him playing through the middle and then on the right, he just wanted to expand his game and he was right in doing so. (y)

Is that fact or opinion?

Am trying to find those quotes in Portuguese..... Can't at the moment (Would they be originally from the Mail?)

I did find this: http://esportes.terra.com.br/futebo...1be49ec05cb6f310VgnCLD2000000ec6eb0aRCRD.html

It says we've put in a €20m bid, he hasn't signed a contract yet, but will after the Confederations cup and it wil be a 4-year deal.

This article also seems pretty certain (no quotes though): http://www.foxsports.com.br/noticia...s-melhores-momentos-do-volante-no-corinthians

It's mainly looking back on how great he's been for Corinthians - but it says he's coming to us for R$45m (€15m).

This one says that we've met his release clause, but Corinthians are hoping someone will come along with more money... http://esporte.ig.com.br/futebol/20...tas-por-paulinho-e-tenta-evitar-impostos.html

Oh... and the quotes are in the independent now... http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...in-tottenham-following-17m-offer-8671979.html

I can imagine that his agent has probably felt compelled to issue these quotes via a statement to the press to clear up any ambiguity that arose from Paulinho's verbal comments last week. Why they only seem to appear in the Daily Mail as of yet i'm not sure.

But the quotes sound much more considered and deliberate. No way would any respectable journalist risk making up such descriptive quotes. Unless he got hoodwinked into believing he was actually speaking to Paulinho when in fact it was some impersonator . . .

Ha ha! Sadly the chap I know was never considered ITK on here by many but I have had enough information from him to know he is.

Anyway I will pass on what I hear if I think it's the right thing to do, but not in the ITK thread as not able to verify my source

Except for the Daily Star, who were stupid enough to make up quotes, and got done for it.

Then again that's the Daily Star for you.

Bale - Boss they keep calling me monkey boy (sniff).
AVB - But Gareth why you so sad.
Bale - I don't want to be a monkey boy.
AVB - But Gareth, monkeys are great, look at their little faces and cute little hands. They swing through the trees laughing and eating bananas, they are the happiest animals in the jungle.
Bale - I spose...
AVB - No Gareth, monkeys are great! Be proud to be a monkey. I want to hear you say it.
Bale - I'm a monkey.
AVB - LOUDER!
Bale - I'M A MONKEY!!!
AVB - Good, now you go out there and be the best monkey you can!

True story that, unfortunately the same talk didn't go down so well with Ade and Disco :(

Jason Burt (who I'm sure said he was on holiday) wading in with the same stuff:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...at-he-wants-to-move-to-Tottenham-Hotspur.html

Spurs are favourites to sign the 24-year-old Brazilian international have agreed a fee – which could rise to £17m – for the midfielder with his club, Corinthians.
Negotiations are now at an advanced stage – but have been slowed by Paulinho’s involvement in the Confederations Cup which ends this week.
Yesterday, however, Paulinho said: "I feel I am ready to experience football at the highest level in Europe and the opportunity to play in England is a dream.
"It's a great pleasure to be linked to such a great club like Tottenham. They have a reputation as one of the great clubs in England who play exciting, attacking football which suits my style.
"I couldn't turn them down if they made me an offer. It would be a fantastic opportunity to play for Tottenham."
Over last weekend Paulinho confirmed that Corinthians that received an official bid from Tottenham Hotspur but indicated he would resolve his future after the Confederations Cup. Now he has gone further by declaring he wants to join Spurs whose interest in the player was first revealed by Telegraph Sport in November.
Personal terms are yet to be agreed but should a formality for Paulinho who has played 15 times for Brazil, scoring four goals, and quickly become a key player for coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
Paulinho has been tracked by Tottenham's coach Andre Villas-Boas for some time and is also highly-regarded by the club’s new technical director Franco Baldini.
If Spurs sign Paulinho they will then press ahead with their plans to improve their forward line as they make a push towards improving on last season’s fifth-place finish and challenge for honours.
The fear at Spurs is that their bid might be gazumped at the last-minute by some of Europe’s leading clubs given that Chelsea and Inter Milan have also expressed their interest in Paulinho.

One thing i've noticed from watching the videos is Paul's aerial ability. Very useful and underrated attribute for a CM, can help us nick a few goals and win possession more easily from long kicks from the opposition.

I was skeptical about this signing at first because I had in my mind the type of players I felt we needed to sign this summer. But I warmed to the idea of a 4-3-3 formation. More creativity was the area I felt we needed to focus on in midfield, however the freedom it would afford our naturally attacking full backs (Walker and I'm saying Rose) and wide players especially Bale would be 'immense'. I believe a mobile intelligent striker and a 20 year Brazilian attacking midfielder from Atletico Mineiro would complete us.

I've had enough of all the negativity that has arisen after positive quotes. It seems some would manufacture a potential suitor to gazump us if some hack hadn't done so in his quest for clicks. Last Summer we had this with Vertonghen, some Milan site trolled twitter with old quotes and the Spurs forums went into meltdown thinking he was going to be bought from under our noses cos Levy was being a skinflint.
