I was thinking about our team, and how well we do as a team now, and I was thinking about partnerships, and comparing them with other teams, the big 3, anyway.

CB --- Woodgate & King - Vidic & Ferdinand - Gallas and Toure - Terry & Carvalho

Right side --- Hutton & Lennon - Neville & Ronaldo - Sagna & Eboué - Belleti & SWP

Left side --- Bale & Malbranque - Evra & Nani/Giggs - Clichy & Hleb - Bridge/Cole & J.Cole

Centre mid - Jenas & Zokora - Scholes & Hargreaves - Fabregas & Flamini - Essien, Lampard & Mikel

Up top - Berba and Keane - Rooney & Tevez - Adebayor & Bendtner - Drogba

And I have highlited who wins each (IMO)

At CB, I think that if Ledley and Woody play, they win, although Vidic and Ferdinand are awesome.

On the right, Man Utd. win, simply because of Ronaldo, whether Brown or Neville or Fletcher or no-one plays at right back.

On the left, awesome partnership, Evra and either Nani or Giggs, with Evra overlapping, really makes the difference.

Centre mid, I couldn't call, but it certainly wasn't us, as well as we played yesterday in the middle, I think Fabregas and Flamini work as a partnership.

Up top though, I think we win, as there is no better partnership in the world IMO.

Basically, I think we can really challenge the top 4 for real, On the right, we don't win, but Lennon and Hutton are a quality right side, and Malbranque and Bale shows great promise. The only worry is the centre mids, not enough guile, but on the other hand, Berba and Keane compensate.

We're not far off, and I can't see any reason why, under Ramos, we can't really compete with the top four. IF King and Woodgate stay fit.

So, what do you guys think? Do you think we lack that individual spark from midfield? Or that we are ready? Or if there are any other reasons we might not be able to break into the top four.

I think it's a little too early to tell on King and Woodgate. They do have the potential though, and if stay fit and learn to play with each other, could rival Ferdinand and Vidic.

Berbs and Keane are as good as any. Maybe the only thing they lack is the strength of Rooney's runs. Berbs doesn't have his pace and power, but has equal if not more technical ability.

Bale and Malbranque is a good left side, but not as good as a top 4 team.

CM's - if Jenas keeps up his level of performance, which he might, he could develop into our most influential player - but to have any impact on the above, we need a better player aside him. That would transform our CM pairing from Top 7 to Top 4.

Some good points though , dude.

Gilberto and Bale has the potential to be a top left hand side - not that I've ever seen 'bert kick a ball but he's a zilla.

Not totally different, but 50 percent different.

Jenas will stay in the side.

My partnership with my bitch is pretty good. She lets me anal her. Would any of the above let their partners do that? Doubt it.

I have to admit that Tevez is slightly better than Keane and will show it after a full season with Man Utd. I hate Man Utd, I hate the Argentinian national team, but this guy is really good.

you forgot our main issue IMO the goalkeepers.

robbo---van der sar---cech---almunia---reina

We clearly are lacking in this department IMO

Yeah I considered it, but I was thinking more in terms of partnerships all over the pitch, as opposed to the keeper. I think it's clear to us that if Robbo doesn't improve in the rest of the season, we will need two new keepers. He is still nothing on Van Der Sar or Cech, and he is not as good as Reina, and on current form, Almunia is better as well.

Tevez may well prove to become a better player than Keane.

In the current stages of their careers, however, Keane is definitely the better player.

I'm not sure about these one-on-ones Keane v Tevez and Berba v Rooney. As always we're possibly overrating our own players a bit (it's certainly not as clear cut as some seem to think). Partnership wise however, there's no better forward pairing around than Berba & Keano imo - they're more than the sum of their parts (and they're both class). Sky did a nice little feature on it before the game and the movement off of each other was different class!

Looking back over former Spurs teams, these two were great partnerships too:

Hoddle and Waddle
Lineker and Gazza

Keane and Berby are definitely on a par with these two and can only get better.

Vidic and Rio are much better than King and Woody purely because they have played so well for so long together, everyone's getting boners over Woody and Leds because of one game. Dont get me wrong, they could become a top partnership, on par with Rio and Vidic, but they would need to do consistantly for a whole season, what are the chances of that happening? I honestly believe Woody's injury woes are behind him, but Ledders is another story.

In regards to the forward partnerships, its more complicated than that. Reason being, the quality of the midfield determines how well the forwards do. Equally if the midfield offers no protection to the back 4 then the defenders will take the blame and everyone says they're shit. If Berby and Keane had a midfield of Ronaldo, Giggs, Carrick and Fabregas behind them they would score 1000000000000000 goals a seaon, but so would most quality strikers.

Rio has more bad games a season than king has had in the last 6. Rio is class when playing well but when he's not on the ball mentally, he's a car crash. Vidic is strong but again has too many Penalty moments and on the ball he's not very good in comparison to the others.
As a pair woodgate and King are the best in the world... followed by King and me.. followed by King and Flatters followed by King and *add name of your choice*

Tevez and Rooney work hardest, Tevez and rooney's hard work gives Ronaldo his space to join and outscore them both. Recently anyway it's been rooney on his own so the partnership most relevant is Ronaldo and Rooney and they are the best Striking pair

Anderson and Hargreaves.... thats UTD's best CM pairing. Anderson is better than Fabregas and hargreaves balances the CM better than Flamini.
