I see this as a deal we are doing without the restraints we find ourselves to squad limits, as this signing won’t take up a spot. To me, it’s clear we need to move players on, and until we do so we can’t upgrade on them. Signings like this can be made in parallel to other targets we would likely go for when we sold who we need/want without having too many players required to be registered for Premier league and Europe.

Basically, adds strength to the squad, has the future in mind, but has no impact on squad limitations.

Agree, if hes good enough to play for Metz he should be able to play against these europa conference teams no problem.

Good enough? Maybe
But it's the idea of 15/20 appearances for us or 30+ appearances for them this season and I think for his development the latter is better

Kind of player I like to see us signing.

Strong, athletic central midfielder, which we haven’t signed many of in recent times and young too.

Loaning him back also good so long as they aren’t twats like Leeds were with Clarke.

Really wouldn't mind for him to join us straight away.. We can free up so many slots if some deadwood can be gone.

I think it's the reality of the deal we've been able to get him for rather than a choice for him to develop tbh.

@Huddlebone

You are raising fair points mate. People just don't want to face the truth.

Let's wait until the window is over for a full assessment but currently we have a much weaker sqaud than last year with 1 addition that I wouldn't call a massive punt.

Besides Romero we are making the sort of singings you would expect from an ambitious mid table team. It's a fact like it or not.

It's not a fact it's an opinion.

Clubs like City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool all buy young players like this. Some of them develop into important players for the team.

Bissouma is great but would be stupidly expensive and completely block the development of Skipp. We have so many higher priority positions than CDM right now.

Sarr makes much more sense to me - waaaay more attacking and creative which is what we need in midfield.

The problem with our midfield is that Skipp, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Ndombele are all best at number 8. Dele as a 10. Lo Celso... fuck knows where his best position is. Maybe an 8 too?

We are seriously lacking a top 6 (DM) and a 10 who can unlock tight defences. Our midfield is so unbalanced it’s unreal. We should be looking for a 6 and a 10 and move on a couple of those mentioned above.

Skipp is a 6. Played there all of last season at Norwich and has been the deepest of the 3 under Nuno. I also think Hojbjerg can do a job there, although he's probably best as an 8.
