One change to the team that started against Arsenal last weekend - Tanguy Ndombele comes in for Giovani Lo Celso, who impressed so much in a 90-minute stint against Royal Antwerp in the Europa League on Thursday night. Gio is on the bench.
Jose Mourinho on Gareth Bale's absence... "Gareth doesn't feel very well. Of course, I want to say that's no coronavirus, no chance, but kind of flu, and he's not feeling so well."

REFEREE: ------- Kevin Friend ???????

TEAM FORM: - Palace - LWLLW ------- Spurs - WDDWW ----
(All Competitions)

The Eagles will be buoyed by their recent attacking form, after scoring five at the Hawthorns and putting four past Leeds United in November. But their opposition are amongst the most in-form sides in the league: Namely us!

We have made our second best start to a Premier League season and travel to south London on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win over north London rivals Arsenal. But with fans back in Selhurst Park for the first time since March, the Eagles will look to make it three consecutive home games unbeaten against us.
We last met in July, as Jeffrey Schlupp's strike cancelled out Harry Kane's opener. The previous meeting at Selhurst saw Palace knock us out of the FA Cup with goals from Connor Wickham and Andros Townsend.

We will be determined to avoid a repeat result if we are to confirm our credentials as title contenders. After our battle for Europa League knockout stage qualification went to the wire, we come into this game on the back of a tough final group game against Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
Mourinho will be pleased to have such a variety of options at his disposal, with the signings of Bale and Vinicius supplementing the more established strike force of Kane and Son this season.

Roy Hodgson will be grateful for his side's full week of rest between fixtures, but it is the last such rest for a while as Palace play six games in the next 16 days.
Our former player Andros Townsend will be keen to add to his tally against his us, after making 93 appearances across five seasons at White Hart Lane.
Our main attacking threat stems from Kane and his partnership with Son. Both players scored and assisted the other against Arsenal, with the two now having combined for 31 Premier League goals, the second most of any duo behind Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba's 36 at Chelsea.
Kane has 11 assists in as many appearances this season, and preventing him from having time on the ball is crucial to Palace's chances of getting a result.

Only Thierry Henry (43) has more goals in London derbies than Kane (34). Twenty of our last 25 Premier League goals against Palace have been scored in the second-half. However, all five of our strikes against them last season came in the opening 45 minutes. Palace have scored four goals or more twice in their last four Premier League fixtures, after going 46 games without doing so.

Since the start of the 2012/13 season, only Olivier Giroud (31) has more headed goals in the Premier League than Christian Benteke (27).
Palace seem to be without any fresh injury concerns or suspensions, meaning Roy Hodgson has plenty of options when it comes to team selection.
Tanguy Ndombele missed the north London derby with a minor injury, but is expected to return to action at Selhurst Park.

Win this and we do not have to worry about any other results. So this is what it is like to be top of the table for 3 weeks now, less stress and a good feeling!

It will be interesting to see what jose does. They will sit back as well. Hopefully tanguy is better. Could be some of this.

I reckon the table is lying a bit when it comes to Palace and that they aren’t AS good as the table thus far might suggest. I feel it’s one of those very few matches a season that we “should” win.

Thing is this season pretty much any team can beat any other so please let’s not all lose our collective shit when we eventually do. There’ll be plenty of twists and turns to come between now and May. Let’s just hope teams start figuring out how to beat the scousers instead of rolling over to get their tummies tickled.

We are winning this 0-1. An early goal by Kane and then we are sitting back defending and saving energy for Liverpool midweek. As predictable as Hojbjerg bossing the game.

One day ill get this right but id really like us to go out and go on the front foot

They will be a horrible team to play against - that is obvious.

Palace 2 - 7 Spurs

West Ham was the last match in the league where we went out on the front foot and bad things happened.

You can imagine Jose is still having nightmares about that too

I think that was just a one off - that was nonsensical. Amateurish

I don't expect Jose to change the system given they have players that can hurt you on the break and at pace (e.g. what they did to United).

They are a decent team and this will be close. I just hope we create a couple of high quality chances against them, rather than scrappy shots from weird positions which they want the opposition to do.

Yup. Just need to get to a fast start, score 2-3 goals and reserve energy. I think the likes of Son and Kane will be motivated to put Palace to sword early and then get subbed off so they can prep for the Liverpool game.

To be honest, I think palace will struggle against us, they rely on eze and zaha to create but they will find it difficult against hoijberg and sissoko.

I think bale will play for this one, he is made for unlocking tight defences. Whether he will play from the start is another matter, but I hope so. Our full backs getting forward will be important as well.

Yeah, I expect Bale to start in this one. For one, as you said, this is the game where we have a bit more possession and need that extra bit of guile. Second, I think it's time, and Jose recognises this is an issue the media (and fans) will continue to focus on.

The problem with scoring early and sitting back against Palace is they put decent quality in from wide areas and set pieces, and have good aerial ability. Unlike the goons who just played into Jose’s hands.

But if we can score from a couple of quick breaks that should on balance be enough. Eze showed good movement last week so will need to be watched, in addition to Zaha of course.

The goals we conceded were nothing to do with going out on the front foot though. One from a set piece and then two as we sought to close the game out. I’m not saying I think we will be anything other than tight in our approach, but it simply isn’t true to say we conceded goals because we were cavalier. We conceded theee goals due to a) poor marking at a set piece b). A defensive error and c) a freak finish after a poor clearance in made up time after a made up foul. The players responsible for this errors aren’t likely to be on the pitch Sunday
