Owen Hargreaves and the rest of the BT Sport pundits.

The standard of BT Sports pundits have been been dreadful, particularly their co-commentators but last night Owen Hargreaves too it to a whole new level.

He seemed to upgrade himself to the role of commentator whereby he talked incessantly and pretty much just repeated himself on a loop and Ian Darke could barely get a word in.

His Bayern bias was utterly incredible. After Bayern scored their 1st, he's gone from this full throttle waffling arse to literally barely uttering a word.

Then you've got Sutton and Savage. Both slavering idiots.

I had high hopes for BT after the first couple of days of them going live. A perfect exercise in just how wrong a person can be

Michael Owen makes me want to rip my ears off & stick them up my arse. The perfect voice for mass suicide.

David James was appalling at times last season, another one that didn't have a good word to say about us.

He's awful.

I like mcmanaman though. I think he's quite good, usually quite balanced and seems to like us as he rarely says a bad word about us.

I don't care if a pundit likes us or not, I want a fair, informed commentary, something enlightening, not drivel bias or some inane cliche that's blatantly wrong.

Hargreaves' comment about Arsenal having 'some of the best fans in the league' also pissed me off. He either knows literally nothing about English football (which is a possibility) or he's just playing to the gallery, hyping up an over-hyped team in an over-hyped competition on a station that only knows how to play one note.

This may be me just putting two and two together and making five, but for me, it did seem highly coincidental that Gareth Bale was reportedly happy to give us one more season according to anyone that knew anything and then becomes the new face of BT Sport and then suddenly is pushing for a move to Real Madrid. I know Real Madrid is hard for anyone to turn down, but I've always had a sneaky feeling that BT wanted to engineer a move for Bale to a top CL club straight away and then use this as leverage/clout/advertisement to push for CL coverage package, which they eventually won.

MacManananananaman does my fucking head in. Rio Ferdinand is like listening to Ali G after a lobotomy.

Conversely their European Football on Sunday nights has some of the best (all journo's like Richardson, Horncastle, Honigstein, etc).

Just one more reason why I don't have BT sport

Sky have the best pundit in the shape of Gary Nevile

This. The reason Gary Nevile is such a good pundit is because he watches the match and comments where it's needed, he doesn't sit there trying to find reasons to give his opinion. And when his mouth does open, you can't fault what he says - dealing in facts rather than opinion, it's very hard to disagree with him.

It pains me to say it but one of the worst combinations of recent times is that chump change Michael Owen and our beloved Glenn Hoddle - they bounce off of each other talking absolute bollocks the whole time. Ended up watching it on mute, ran up the radio commentary and paused it until it synched up.

So here's a pretty full list of everyone who is a pundit / commentator on BT sport (there seems to be a few missing but this was the biggest list I could be bothered to find)

---------

Premiership / European Competitions

Owen Hargreaves, David James, David Ginola, Steve McManaman, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Robbie Savage, Ian Wright, Ian Darke, Darren Fletcher, Michael Owen, Ray Stubbs, Gary Lineker, Jake Humphrey, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Harry Redknapp, Glen Hoddle, Howard Webb, Paul Scholes, Michael Owen, Steve Mcmanaman and Owen Hargreaves.

Scottish League / Cup

Darrell Currie, Derek Rae and Gary McAllister, Stephen Craigan and Mark Guidi.

European Leagues

Paul Dempsey, James Richardson, Julien Laurens, Raphael Honigstein, James Horncastle, Andy Brassell, Danny Higginbotham Joey Barton, Joe Cole. Mark Clemmit, Helen Skelton, Mark Creighton, James Beattie, Adam Virgo, Steve Bower.

----------

There are quite a few duds, but there's a few good ones in there too. I think the European league coverage is pretty good, and particularly the bottom group, minus Joe Cole and Barton, is very good. Although MNF is very good, that's largely because of Neville. Yes, Carragher can analyse something well, but he's still pretty thick and incredibly biased. Aside from MNF, most the sky pundits are pretty bland / biased / unbearable.

Agree. David James and Macca are the worst. Michael Owen is just dull. I don't mind Hargreaves tbh, has good knowledge and talks better than the others. He does talk a bit too much but he'll learn!

Become a pundit, become a ****

I saw that in one of them christmas cracker sentiment thingys and it must be true because all I ever see are post saying this pundit is a ****, that pundit is a ****.

I think they should recruit from within the ranks of SC :playful:

Surely posting drivel based on ten years or more of playing football manager and/or the cock lengthening 'I know my football' mantra counts for something, right? We must have some blinding candidates on the firm :p
