Our FA cup hopes

If we were to pull off a miracle and beat Man Utd on sunday, then we could stand a good chance of a cup run.

9 Premier league teams went in the 3rd round and with a guaranteed 3 more going in this round due to all premiership ties then it will increase our chances further. leaving us just one of 8 top tier teams providing there are no upsets.

That would leave Derby, Middlesbrough, liverpool, portsmouth, and man city.

Plus either Ar5ena1 or Newcastle
and Wigan or chelsea.

I just wonder if Newcastle could cause an upset, i admit its unlikely being realistic, but it is the FA cup.
Keagan will have fired his men up for this and they will all want to prove themselves to there new manager, also ar5ena1 will have been hit for 6 (5-1, add together make 6!) and have no choice due to injury and african nations cup to play a similar line up to tuesday. only the strike force will change.

Chelsea are away, without key players for same reasons as the scum. so you never know Wigan could course an unlikely upset there too

And of course we will have taken out Man Utd if we win, making it easier still.

So There could be a strong chance of this game producing a FA Cup finalist. Lets just hope its us! COYS!!

Would it be such a miracle? Our cup record against the Rowdies is actually pretty good, and the last four league games at OT have been very close affairs: two draws (one of which was really a win for us) and two 1-0 defeats, from the follow-up to a free kick and a deflected long shot—and we had chances to get at least a point from both, and wouldn't have been flattered if we had.

Let's forget the inferiority complex and remember we are certainly one of the last sides SAF would have wanted to draw.

I'd be happy resting some players and letting nature take it's course. If we beat ManU we're bound to come up against Arsenal or Chelsea. If we go out now, we can avoid 3 or 4 games and concentrate on the league/UEFA cup.

Seems like too much to happen in one week. I agree with SS57, we'll give them a great game, we generally do, but surely we can't. It's not just very us, is it? I'll start believing we can make Europe through the league next! Oh, go on then…

But Camaj, I certainly don't think we should rest players. We have to go all out for the win - imagine what beating Arsenal and Man U in a week will do for our confidence and, in turn, our league form?

Maybe i shouldn't have phrased it "miracle", unexpected is what i meant. And i completely agree about the recent results against them and meant to put it in my post. and thats was the whole part of my post really! if we can win this even the media will realize the change in fortunes at WHL and see that we can challenge for the cups like the so called 'big 4'.

How about we withdraw from both FA and Carling cups? That way we'd play 2 games less. :duh:

It's not outside the realms of possibility. A massive thing that went missing this season was belief. We have the ability to do this. Although Rooney and Ronaldo and all the others are fantastic players, the gulf that many see between them and other players isn't that vast. We showed Chelsea up at the Bridge last year, and it was our own fault that they managed to peg us back to 3-3. We showed Arsenal this season THREE TIMES that we can outplay them. We were so unlucky to lose in the League at the Immigrants, and they were lucky to get the draw in the CC semi 1st leg.

We stifled Man U at OT in the League and should have had at least one penalty. If we'd had that, who knows? We gave Liverpool a massive shock at Anfield, and unluckily threw it away in the dying seconds. Of all the games against the Top 4 this season, the only one in which we genuinely outclassed was against the Scum at home. Maybe Chelsea at the Bridge as well, but according to reports, we gave a good account of ourselves.

We can do this! They're just 11 footballers. Going into the game with the mentality of 'oh shit, it's Man U' will do more to lose the game than the players they have.

We are Tottenham. We are the greatest football team the world has ever seen and we're going to show those manky twats exactly what we're made of.

Imagine if the internet was around in 1901. Thread starter - our FA Cup hopes, we are a non-league team, what chance do we have against league teams with more experience, better players, we may as well concentrate our efforts on trying to gain league status.

Come on mate, we don't need miracles, we just need to play well. On our day we can beat anybody, absolutely anybody. We written history into the FA Cup, starting 107 years ago, there's no reason to suggest we cannot do so again.

If you read the whole thread you will have noticed i said i didnt meant to phrase it miracle. unexpected would have been more like what i meant.

And anyway i think my original post was positive trying to suggest if we just believe and have faith we could all the way to the final and get a uefa cup spot as a result

as it stands six premiership teams are through ('boro, arsenal, portsmouth, l'pool, wigan/chelsea and either us or manU) and nine lower division teams are through. that leaves only man city and sheff utd, and if we give ourselves a man city win, then only seven premiership teams will be in the final sixteen. that's amazing.

Hope we get a draw at United tomorrow and stuff them at the lane.
The worrying thing is that we need someone in our team that can stop Ronaldo running riot and I don't think we have that player yet!
Need Robbie,Berbs,Lennon and Jenas to have massive games tomorrow because United will score.

I strongly disagree with any suggestion tomorrows match is a write off and we should field a weakened team as we need to rest players for other competitions. This is the FA Cup and we need to start competing with the top teams and believing we can start winning competitions.

Last season we beat Chelsea for the first time in absolutely ages and this season we've beaten Arsenal, drawn at Anfield and narrowly lost at Old Trafford after an evenly contested match.

Sure we're not the favourites but I'd like to think we've progressed past the days where we know we've lost before we've even kicked off
