Thanks for that, brought back some fond memories of a match I attended with a couple of mates.
I was 19 and living in Manchester at the time, so all-in-all a bit of a hike driving down overnight in my dad's old Hillman Minx. I recall the fan-belt snapping at some ungodly early hour and having to wait until the AA eventually pitched up and replaced it, just as it started to get light.
I remember the score line, that Margate had Eddie Clayton, our old player, turning out for them and the only decent track on the jukebox in the pub we were staying in was 'You're so vain' by Carly Simon that we played over and over again (which pi**ed off the locals).
The very idea, now, of travelling nearly 600 miles in 36hrs just to drive to Margate and back in the 2nd week in January................!!!!!!
