Pardon my ignorance, mighty Emperor, but who is this Alan Nixon?
Very reliable for any news involving EFL clubs, he was first to flag our interest up in the Wigan players and Wilson (our interest in Wilson was then confirmed by pretty much everyone even if we never formally bid).

Not your typical Mourinho battering ram CF without seeing much of Watkins think he is more a playing off the shoulder type striker

I’ve done my scouting for Watkins over the whole season and this is what I can report:

At the beginning of the season, he was mostly this-

Then he was this-

Then he got really good-

Not in Brentford squad for game vs Wycombe Today

Good news, means Wycombe might not get completely battered!

Also must mean he’s close to a move. I’ve only seen him a few times so will have to bow to others superior knowledge but he looks hungry and that’s half the battle sometimes.

This is true, but then that's stereotyping Mourinho. It has appeared to me, especially in the first pre season game, that Son was spinning and aiming to run beyond the defence as soon as a Spurs player got the ball. And it was successful. Not a stretch to think that will be a very much used tactic this season, so having Watkins AND Son doing it could be pretty decent.

Hoping JJ is ahead of the press on this one and we had a breakthrough yesterday. He really is the ideal signing for us and also has that sell on value proposition Levy loves.

Watkins only recently started playing centrally having ben a WF at his time with Exeter and the Bees. Last season got moved centrally with really impressive results.
I personal think he could play with Kane or on either side of him. I thought he used to play more on the right when a WF but my Brentford supporting mates seem to think he played off the left more and I'll take their work for it frankly.

I hope so, but do get the feeling he’ll end up at Villa - don’t think they’ve spent any money yet and will be willing to pay more than us (shock).

Hope I’m wrong!

Would really like this signing to happen out of all strikers linked with us.

Young, English, can also play wide.

Seems to have a bit of everything. The more I look the more positive he seems.

It‘a weird because I like him from watching him play, but that is a truly awful compilation Maybe it’s just the stupid gunshot sound effects for every tap in clouding my judgment though

If I was him I'd choose Villa over us. Villa's other strikers are shite and he'd be a guaranteed starter. At such a critical stage in his development Spurs would be a much riskier prospect - he'd get plenty of game time but it would be very stop-start and he'd be far more likely to lose his rhythm and confidence. And even if he plays brilliantly, Kane is an immovable object and he'd never ever be our first choice striker while he's fit.

What we can offer is a much better quality of life: London, stadium, training ground, European football and are also more of a final destination than a stepping stone, so I think we still have a solid chance of getting him. But on purely footballing terms I think it would be better for him to sign for Villa.

If he’s ambitious and confident he would choose us

Who are you going to bring on when you need a goal.
